BELLA VISTA — Donald G. Main, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away on Sept. 22, 2015. Don was born in Walton, Kan., Jan. 3, 1927, to Joseph S. and Maude E. Main.

Don grew up in Amorita, Okla. He served in the U. S . Nav y during WWII on board the USS Ajax in the South Pacific. After the war he attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University).

Don was then hired by the Boeing Company in Wichita, Kan., where he worked for 23 years. During this time he met his first wife, Kathryne McCoy and they had two children, Steven and Debra. Don left Boeing as the General Supervisor of Manufactur­ing Data Systems in 1971 to work for Xerox.

Don and Kathryne divorced and Don later married Juanita (Neatie) Collins, who had a son, Vance. Don continued to work for Xerox for 21 years and was promoted to National Accounts Manager for Xerox Engineerin­g Systems. Don made presentati­ons throughout the U.S., Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

In England, Don made a presentati­on to a group representi­ng six different countries. Don retired and was rehired as a consultant by Xerox until he retired for good in 1992.

In 1995 Don and Neatie moved to Bella Vista where they lived together until Neatie’s death in 2009.

At Oklahoma A&M, Don was on the wrestling team and the basketball team, and later became an avid bowler, softball player, tennis player and golfer. Don continued to play golf into his 80s. Don was active in the community, known unofficial­ly as the “Mayor of McKenzie”. He was also president of the Bella Vista Nomad Shrine Club in 1998. Don located and supported 65 local children who received treatment at Shriner’s hospitals. Don served as a Deacon and an elder in the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista.

Don is survived by his son Steve (Kathy) Main of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Debi Werbin of Wichita, Kan.; stepson Vance (Marce) Collins of Meriden, Kan.; three grandchild­ren, 14 great-grandchild­ren, four great- great- grandchild­ren and loving companion Darlene Albers of the home.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista with Pastor Dennis Ritchie officiatin­g. Burial will be at 2 p.m., Monday at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita, Kan.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Carmel Ferreira, 55, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away Sept. 21, 2015, in Bentonvill­e. Born June 19, 1960, in Lafayette, La., to James C. Shay Sr. and Rita Babin Shay.

She was in the advertisin­g and promotion division., and volunteere­d to help homeless and disabled veterans obtain meals.

Survived by her husband, Ron Ferreira; children, Adam and Riley O’Mara; her siblings, J.S. Shay Jr., Pat Cunningham, Marie Shay and Shawn Shay; two grandchild­ren. Arrangemen­ts by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Ted Lee Moore, age 71, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., died Sept. 22, 2015, in Fayettevil­le. He was born in Memphis , Tenn., Sept. 29, 1943, to Wilbur L. and Myra E. Portis Moore. Ted was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Ted was preceded in death by both parents and his wife Kristine.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughters Kathryn Moore of Pennsylvan­ia, Margaret Moore of Fayettevil­le, Ark., Kamesha Kahn of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and Shelby Mainzer of Johnson, Ark., son, Karl of Massachuse­tts, and grandchild­ren, Kyra Kahn and Chris Anderson both of Springdale, Ark.

Ted graduated from Covington, Tenn., High School, then Lambuth University. Ted was the science coordinato­r for the Pacific Rim schools. He worked in Japan, Korea, Germany, and Atlanta. He purchased an inflatable observator­y, which was moved to every school. Several of Ted’s science students were flown, along with Ted, to a New York Science Symposium, to receive science awards.

Ted worked with students whose parents had been killed in war. Ted understood and cared. Ted spoke of the losses these children had endured, he cried. Ted was in health care at Butterfiel­d Trail and loved to laugh with the entire staff. His smile shown to everyone as did his soul. Ted passed away with complicati­ons associated with Progressiv­e Supranucle­ar Palsy, which is a rare form of Parkinsons.

Memorial services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Parish Hall Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 11 a. m. FORT SMITH — David C. Engles, 90, of Fort Smith, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, in Fort Smith. He was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Batesville, Ark., to Charles Columbus and Pearl Mae Fisher Engles.

He was owner/operator of Engles Insurance Services for 60 years, and was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church and a deacon. He was a member of Chartered Life Underwrite­rs and was a Registered Financial Planner. David loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jane Engles; one son, Michael Engles of Fort Smith; one sister, Geraldine Gessner of Florida; two brothers, Cecil Engles and Bill Engles both of Fort Smith; and one grandson, Eric Engles of Fort Smith.

Funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the Temple Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oak Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearer­s will be Gary Hawthorne, Barry Hawthorne, Rick Peterson, Steve Peterson, Bill Engles, Jr. and Bryant Engles. Honorary pallbearer­s will be the Deacons of Temple Baptist Church.

ROGERS — Neva Irene Pfeifer, 101, of Rogers, passed away Sept. 16, 2015. She was born on Dec. 22, 1913, in Seligman, Mo. to the late Henry Lee Wedding and Gra ce Mae Roller Wedding. For nearly 60 years she was the loving wife of Wendel Pfeifer, who preceded her. She and her husband retired to Rogers from Southern California and were members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers.

Irene’s working life ranged from wife and homemaker to Hallmark greeting card painter to WWII ammunition inspector to fine jewelry salesperso­n.

She and Wendel took up square dancing after retiring and combining that with a love of travel, danced in China, Ireland and Russia.

She continued to attend her late-husband’s Seabee reunions after his passing. Irene also had a knack for sewing, making beautiful quilts for her grandsons well into her 80s and 90s. She was an avid recycler, concerned with keeping the earth clean and safe for her grandchild­ren and future generation­s.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Imogene Reynolds and son-in-law, Deane Knapp.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Knapp of California; her son, John Pfeifer and wife Carolyn of Texas; her grandchild­ren Kyle Knapp and wife Katie, Ethan Knapp and wife Alyssa, and Travis Knapp; and great-grandchild­ren, Brady, Logan, Finn and Lucianne Knapp.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 25 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers with entombment Saturday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kansas City.

SPRINGDALE — Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Turner, 39, of Springdale, Ark., passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015. Cindy was born on Feb. 26, 1976, in San Leandro, Calif., the daughter of Alfred Eugene Brown and Catherine Elizabeth Turner Brown. Cindy was a homemaker. She is survived by her life partner, Daniel Baty of Springdale; her father, Gene Brown of Galt, Calif.; her mother Catherine Knee-Vull of Redwood City, Calif.; three daughters, Ashley McLaughlin of Fayettevil­le, Alexis Turner of Springdale, and Audrey Brown of West Siloam Springs, Okla.; two brothers, Taylor Turner of Bryant, Ark. and Robert Brown of Galt, Calif.; two half-brothers, Jason Knee and Happy Knee; her aunt, Cheryl Turner of Bryant, Ark.; two uncles, J.D. Brown and wife Carmen of Kimberly, Wis. and Glen Brown of Modesto, Calif.

ARDMORE, Okla. — Anthony Vincent “Vince” Ludwick graduated to his eternal home Sept. 21, 2015, in Ardmore, Okla. He was born Dec. 3, 1962, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., to Glen and Linda Ludwick.

He is survived by his daughters Tiara and Payzlee of Ardmore Okla.; his sons Nate and Matthew of Huntsville Ark., and Elyjah of Ardmore Okla.; two sisters Laura Ludwick of Nashville, Tenn., and Charlotte Allee of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; his mother and father of Springdale, Ark., as well as nieces Jessica Somerville and Ariane Joens, nephew Bobby Brooks, four great nephews and a great niece.

At the time of his passing Vince was in constructi­on for Bates Home Beautifica­tion. As a devout Christian, he was very active in the Faith Family Church of Ardmore, Okla.

Vince was a deeply compassion­ate man and opened his home and heart to all. Vince’s passions were the outdoors, cooking, football, music, and family. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, wrote and played music on his guitar, and embraced his family with his love.

He is deeply missed by his family, who are grateful that he is at peace with his Creator and Father.

His services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home in Ardmore, Okla.

COLCORD, Okla. — Jane Ellen Rapp Fields, 69-yearold resident of Colcord, Okla., died Sept.20, 2015, at Quail Ridge Living Center. Born Jan. 20, 1946, in Siloam Springs, Ark., she was the daughter of A.J. Rapp and Merle Finch Rapp.

She had lived in Rogers, Ark., most of her life moving here a few years ago.

She is survived by her father A.J. Rapp of Siloam Springs, Ark., one daughter, Kristi Johnson of Grove, Okla., one son, Wes Fields and wife Elve of El Mirage, Ariz., one brother, Michael Rapp and wife Danette of Siloam Springs, Ark., and two grandchild­ren.
