KENTUCKY 7, NO. 1 FLORIDA 4

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Evan White went 3 for 3 with a home run and Dustin Beggs won his sixth consecutiv­e start to open the season, leading Kentucky past No. 1 Florida at Cliff Hagan Stadium to even the three-game series and snap the Gators’ 17-game winning streak Saturday.

Kentucky (16-6, 3-2 SEC) took its ninth victory over a top-ranked team since 2002.

The Wildcats took a one-run lead in the first inning on White’s second home run of the year, and Beggs cruised into the fourth inning before surrenderi­ng a game-tying home run by Deacon Liput. Kentucky’s offense then responded with consecutiv­e three-run innings to take a six-run lead, with the Gators mounting a sixth-inning rally that resulted in three runs for the final margin.

Beggs (6-0) worked 52/3 innings, allowing 8 hits and 4 runs, walking 4 and striking out 4. He became the first Kentucky pitcher to win his first six starts.

Starter A.J. Puk (1-2) worked 41/3 innings for Florida (23-2, 4-1), allowing 4 hits and 6 runs, walking 2 and striking out 5. Florida also used Frank Rubio, Scott Moss and Brady Singer in relief.

NO. 2 TEXAS A&M 3, NO. 13 LSU 1

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — No. 2 Texas A&M (21-3, 4-2 SEC) used another strong performanc­e on the mound to take the series from No. 13 LSU (16-7, 2-4) on Saturday at Blue Bell Park.

Kyle Simonds (5-0) pitched 62/3 innings, and allowed 1 run on 8 hits while striking out 2. Brigham Hill worked one scoreless inning, and Ryan Hendrix walked 2 and struck out 1 over 11 /3 innings en route to his fifth save of the season.

John Valek III (4-1) was the loser for LSU. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1 in 6 innings.

Texas A&M scored first in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Boomer White punched a single to left field and stole second base. After Hunter Melton drew a walk, Michael Barash singled to right field to drive in White for the 1-0 lead. The rally was quelled when Ronnie Gideon bounced into an inning-ending double play.

LSU’s Greg Deichmann tied the game in the top of the fifth with a home run. Nick Banks answered with a home run to right field in the sixth as the Aggies reclaimed the lead 2-1. Texas A&M added a run in the eighth on Hunter Melton’s RBI triple.

NO. 4 VANDERBILT 2, MISSOURI 0 (11)

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 4 Commodores (19-4, 3-2 SEC) scored two runs with two outs in the top of the 11th inning at Taylor Stadium, keeping the Tigers (13-11, 0-5) winless in SEC play.

With two outs in the 11th, junior Bryan Reynolds singled to left and then sophomore Will Toffey walked. Junior Jason Delay singled up the middle to score Reynolds, and freshman Alonzo Jones followed with another single up the middle to bring in Toffey.

Three Vandy pitchers combined to strike out 16.
