STUTTGART — The third day of the trial of Mrs. Lily Lynch for the murder of her husband, Robert C. Lynch, opened with the courtroom crowded with spectators, among them many women. The prosecution rested its case. Robert E. Spivey, son of the accused woman, was the principal witness for the defense. Miss Mabel Lynch, daughter of the dead man, was recalled this morning and repeated her testimony that the mask found in her father’s pocket and which bore her name in indelible ink, was a part of a sheet she had used in wrapping up her father’s arm when he was wounded in a fight in which he killed Frank Kennedy of Saulsbury on a train.

The Federal Highway Administration has approved the route for a significant portion of Interstate 69 through south Arkansas, the state Highway and Transportation Department announced Wednesday. The approval allows the state agency to begin design and eventual construction of the segment, estimated to cost $784 million. The 103-mile section running from U.S. 65 just north of McGehee to U.S. 82 west of El Dorado is part of the proposed 2,700-mile highway from Mexico to Canada, a product of the North America Free Trade Agreement. The selected route in Arkansas moves just to the south of Monticello and Warren and to the north of Hermitage. The route crosses Arkansas 7 north of Louann before turning south and tying into existing U.S. 82 about 10 miles west of El Dorado.
