A fiscal conservative

-

Now that the Libertarian Party has its candidate for the presidency, we finally have a third-party candidate in the race that will represent fiscal conservatives.

The Tea Party and the Libertarian Party share a common goal of a significant reduction in the size and scope of government. The Tea Party got its start in protest against the government bailout of “too big to fail” companies and supports the Libertarian Party philosophy of returning to the U.S. Constitution as the core document in our political system. Both believe that the Constitution has been subverted by special-interest groups to the point that it no longer reflects the philosophies envisioned by the founding fathers.

The president, Congress and the Supreme Court all ignore the Constitution whenever it behooves them. The Republican Party, Tea Party and the Libertarian Party have a shared philosophy when it comes to reducing the size of government.

It seems Donald Trump has no interest in reducing the size of government. Keep in mind that he apparently doesn’t need congressional approval to start deporting whoever he wants. Executive orders have apparently become the new way of governing. Between building a wall on the border and massive deportations, the federal debt would grow far beyond anything the Democrats ever contemplated. And these are only a couple of his budget-blowing ideas.

If Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party presidential candidate, can poll at least 15 percent through a coalition of fiscal conservatives in the country, he will be allowed into the presidential debates. As the only true conservative on the stage, he may not worry Hillary Clinton too much, but it shouldn’t be too hard to unmask Trump as the profligate spender he would like to be. In the past, Trump has spent his money like there’s no tomorrow. Imagine what he could do with your money.
