WASHINGTON COUNTY
Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, a North American Lutheran Church, 2901 E. Zion Road, Suite 17, dedicates its new sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 11. The Rev. David Wendel of Hilliard, Ohio, assistant to the bishop for ministry and ecumenism for the North American Luthern Church, will speak. A potluck lunch follows the dedication.
The church also kicks off its Sunday school season with a Rally Day at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 11.

Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 699 N. Sang Ave., offers a Shabbat service, led by Rabbi Jacob Adler, at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Information: 973-2702, templeshalomnwa.org. Cross Church in Fayetteville, 3484 Wedington Drive, offers a six-week session of the Art of Marriage, meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. each Sunday from Sept. 11 to Oct. 16. The class meets on the east side of Arvest Bank.
Topics include God’s purpose for marriage, overcoming isolation, fulfilling responsibilities, communication, conflict resolution, intimacy and leaving a legacy. Cost is $35 per couple, and free child care is available.

Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale, 1506 W. Robinson Ave., offers the GriefShare support group from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning this week. DivorceCare support group runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. every Sunday, starting Sept. 11. Babysitting is available for both programs.
DivorceCare for Kids, for children in the first to sixth grades, runs from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. every Wednesday, starting Sept. 14.

First United Methodist Church in Springdale, 206 W. Johnson Ave., offers Covenant Connections, a meal and fellowship, at 6 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning this week in the Family Life Center. Youth in grades six to 12 attend Roots, and children in kindergarten through fifth grade attend Spark Recharge.
Connect Class, a fourweek introduction to the beliefs, ministries and mission of the church led by the pastors, meets at 5 p.m. each Sunday, Sept. 11-25. The class ends with a lunch at noon Oct. 2.
The church offers a women’s Bible study, The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer, at 5 p.m. each Sunday from Sept. 11 to Oct. 23.
A couples communication class is offered at 6 p.m. each Monday from Sept. 19 to Oct. 10. Cost is $100. GriefShare meets each Tuesday from Sept. 20 to Dec. 13. Cost is $10.

Mount Sequoyah Assembly in Fayetteville, 150 N. Skyline Drive, hosts the United Methodist Study School on Tuesday to Sept. 13, offering core courses for those working toward ministry with the United Methodist Church.
The South Central Jurisdiction Mission Academy is Sept. 11-14 and will include offerings from the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. The academy is for Mission Journey participants, the United Methodist Committee on Relief for Disaster Response, as well as others interested but not part of the denomination.

Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Hindsville, 23011 Fate Anderson Road, celebrates its 150th anniversary Sept. 11. The morning worship service begins at 10 a.m. Lunch and fellowship at 11 a.m. Singing and sharing memories continues at 1:30 p.m.
Faith Bible Church in Holiday Island, 3 Parkcliff Drive, presents Awaken, a contemporary gospel band from the Czech Republic, performing at 3 p.m. Monday at the band shell, across the street from the Holiday Island post office on Mundell Road. The concert will be at the church if weather requires.

St. Scholastica Retreat Center in Fort Smith, 1301 S. Albert Pike Ave., presents a silent retreat, “O Beauty Ever Ancient, Ever New,” led by Sister Macrina Wiederkehr, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. The program will focus on the prayer of St. Augustine. Cost is $195, which includes room and board. A $50 nonrefundable deposit is required at registration, which closes Sept. 16.
