Regarding the movie, “Greater” about former Arkansas All-American Brandon Burlsworth ….

S wine before pearls wrote: I thought it very appropriate for young kids. No cuss words that young kids haven’t heard before, like when their dad hits his thumb when hammering a nail. And they are only used a couple of times (and a coach who uses one gets corrected once in the movie, very humorously, by Brandon). … I would highly recommend it for young kids ( and parents, too, for that matter) because of the uplifting message it contains … I was proud that it put the U of A in a good light, too.

HogQ wrote: One of the touching moments to me as a Razorback fan was when Brandon stepped on to the turf down on Reynolds Razorback Stadium and looked around. I’ve never been down there but I know I would get goosebumps if I did.

Neastarkie wrote: I saw it last night. Thought it was perhaps a bit cheesy, but not too much. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot and could barely control my emotions at the scene where his mother learned he’d been killed. I wasn’t sure where reality stopped and Hollywood hype began in many of the scenes, but it seemed pretty accurate to the extent I remember things. Clay Henry wrote: The good news is that this one will be around for a long time … I believe coaches are going to be showing it to their football teams for a long time. I know many football coaches in Arkansas have begun taking their players to see it already. It won’t be just Arkansas, either.

Expectations for the coming season …

Hog Treat: I feel like the football program is surging right now. Coach Bret Bielema has academics in rare air, staff is intact and better than ever, player character is at a high, and recruiting commits are ahead of schedule.

Jimbeau77 wrote: The program surged in one year under the tutelage of John L. Smith. It was just the wrong direction. CBB has steadily made the U- turn from that surge. We win nine or more in the upcoming regular season, call it what you want — a surge or the U-turn completed.

HawginTN wrote: Coach has certainly stabilized this program. I have really grown to like Bielema and his style. Hawgologist wrote: Everyone loves the program — until our first loss. Colorado Hog wrote: I must be losing it! I was sitting here between projects and just checked flights from Denver to Atlanta (site of the SEC championship game) for the weekend of 12/3. What am I doing? Craze, but fun this time of year. JGAGE wrote: What kind of brownies have you been eating? WorldSeriesofPorker wrote: The medicinal kind.

Regarding who Arkansas should schedule in place of Michigan …

SilverFox wrote: … What is needed to fill this vacated date is the enlistment of a school which combines the prestigious PR media clout of Notre Dame and the consummate, refined, overall qualitative competency of Henderson (State). That, apparently, is a rather tall order. Tennesseehogwild wrote: I vote for Citadel! We owe them suckers big time!

Jimbeau77 wrote: A Kiwi rugby team from New Zealand.

Rzbkertn wrote: You know, I don’t care who it is as long as they’re Division I. But since its up in the air for some rooting around here’s my very short list. Idaho Vandals, Hawaii Warriors and the USF Bulls. Well I can dream can’t I?

Strategy for beating Louisiana Tech …

Snoutoff wrote: Pound the rock and establish your bread and butter. No need to give TCU all your playbook but we certainly don’t wanna get “Toledoed” either.

Gonavy wrote: Heard through grapevine from folks to our south … La. Tech thinks they can and will light up our defense. They think they can slow down our rushing attack just enough to force us to pass. In doing so they will bring a lot of pressure on Austin Allen. With the pressure, they think they will be able to force AA into bad decisions. … They are coming to win and not just collect a check and leave. BBBigChop wrote: Bring it.

ACSRazorback wrote: … First game of the season I am sure that every team thinks they can win and knock off a Power 5 team. Skip ( Holtz) wouldn’t be a good coach if his team didn’t think that way. … reality will soon hit them in the face …

Game Predictions

LosAngelesHog wrote: 38- 7 Hogs, with a pick-6 for the D.

Hogman85 wrote: 27-10 Hogs. Two field goals. Jared Cornelius catches or runs for a TD.

SwineIzFine wrote: 28-17 Hogs. Hogs struggle with a spread team.

JJhog18 wrote: 56- 21 Hogs. D-line too much for Tech.

Randy Reece wrote: I got totally confused when picking this game. TCU is the one with the injured kicker. Louisiana Tech has a great kicker. They’ll probably kick seven field goals. 38-21.

Hawgflyer wrote: 28-17 Hogs. Hogs don’t score near as much as we think they should and Tech scores more than we think they should and by Monday morning this board will once again be in meltdown mode.

Neastarkie wrote: I hope all you who predict a lopsided score are right. I don’t have any idea what to expect. La. Tech was pretty good last year and I have no idea what they’re bringing back (I just haven’t read anything about them yet). So with that cowardly caveat, I’ll say Hogs win, 34-17.

Porkdiet wrote: La. Tech wins by three. Hate to say it.

GentryRzrbk wrote: (to Porkdiet) I was concerned you would call for the Hogs to win. Hogs 55-14.

Mudvilleswine wrote: 2-0 forfeit. La. Tech players see all the guacamole stains on CBB’s windbreaker and refuse to come out on the field. Daytonabeachhog wrote: 51-13. Defense is 4-Real; give up a TD in the 4th.

On life in general …

SilverFox wrote: At the conclusion of a rare, lengthy period of thoughtful meditation last night, I came to the shocking realization that at least fully 80 percent of the monetary assets which I have laboriously accrued over the span of my entire adult life has been spent on wine, women and song. The remaining 20 percent, I just wasted!

BobHawg wrote: You did better than I. I am tone deaf. Bakedhog19741 wrote: Wasn’t hard to realize you did that. I’ve read your posts on both the old board and this one.
