ARKANSAS VS. LOUISIANA TECH: HOW WE SEE IT

-

CLAY HENRY, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED Rawleigh Williams, Devwah Whaley and Kody Walker will find more than enough running room behind a rebuilt offensive line. Arkansas is just bigger and stronger than the Bulldogs. Arkansas, 38-10.

DUDLEY E. DAWSON, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED While a quality foe to start the season, Louisiana Tech is not the same team it was a year ago without with Arkansas native Kenneth Dixon and Jeff Driscoll. Certainly, the Razorbacks are not either — at least the one at the end of the year — but seem too talented overall to drop this game. Arkansas, 31-14.

BO MATTINGLY, SPORTS TALK WITH BO Lou Holtz ended a recent interview on Sports Talk by requesting Arkansas take it easy on Louisiana Tech. That’s classic Lou and scary for Arkansas, but I expect the defense to be much improved against tempo offenses. We are all waiting to see where the Hogs are on the offensive line, but I predict they’ll be good enough to beat Louisiana Tech. Arkansas, 24-10.

HARRY KING, ARKANSAS NEWS Austin Allen makes a successful, maybe even spectacular debut, and Tech quarterback Ryan Higgins won’t start as punishment for a recent arrest. Arkansas, 41-10.

JIMMY CARTER, WHOLE HOG SPORTS The last two seasons, a pair of the best Louisiana Tech teams in recent history lost their two meetings with SEC foes by an average of 26.5 points. This year’s Bulldogs are largely inexperienced and should provide a good dress rehearsal for Arkansas’ new faces before the Hogs head to Fort Worth. Arkansas, 41-17.

MATT JONES, WHOLE HOG SPORTS Breaking in several new starters on the road isn’t ideal for Louisiana Tech. Arkansas’ offense and defense should both have good days. Arkansas, 35-14.

BART POHLMAN, SPORTS TALK WITH BO Don’t expect Arkansas to have too much trouble with Louisiana Tech in the opener. Yes, this team went 9-4 a year ago. But the Bulldogs also lost a lot in the offseason — including QB Jeff Driskel. Whether Arkansas’ offense is on track in the opener is irrelevant — the Hogs’ defense will dominate. Arkansas, 4110.

TOMMY CRAFT, ESPN ARKANSAS Many are questioning the offensive abilities of this team and I believe that has been a motivator for Dan Enos, Austin Allen and the rest of the offense during camp and the lead up to La. Tech. The biggest question mark is still the most important element, the O-Line, and even if the opener doesn’t meet expectations, have faith in the process, you won’t find many poor offensive lines in Bret Bielema’s past. Arkansas, 38-14.
