No. 10 Louisville 63, No. 2 Florida State 20: Lamar Jackson ran for four touchdowns and threw for another as No. 10 Louisville poured it on in a 63-20 victory over No. 2 Florida State on Saturday in what was billed as an ACC showdown game.

There was no showdown at all, as the Cardinals showed off their talent with Jackson leading the way. The quarterback ran for 146 yards and four TD and passed for 216 yards and a score. The defense chipped in with nine sacks.

The Cardinals (3-0, 2-0 ACC) lost back-to-back halftime leads to the Seminoles in the past, but they left no doubt in topping 60 points for the third straight game. The Seminoles (2-1, 0-1) suffered one of the worst losses in school history. …

No. 5 Clemson 59, South Carolina St. 0: Clemson scored early and often in the first half against South Carolina State, and both coaches decided to shorten Saturday’s game in what turned into a rout.

The game was such a mismatch that the fifth-ranked Tigers (3-0) scored two touchdowns in the first quarter with no time running off the clock. An NCAA rule allows for games to be shortened by time if the coaches agree.

Clemson led 45-0 at the half against the FCS Bulldogs (0-3), and the third and fourth quarters were 12 minutes each instead of the usual 15 minutes. …

Georgia Tech 38, Vanderbilt 7: Justin Thomas threw an 81-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Marshall on the first play of the game, Georgia Tech held Vanderbilt scoreless in the final three quarters and the Yellow Jackets beat the Commodores on Saturday.

Thomas threw for 136 yards and ran for 84 yards before sitting out the final quarter as Georgia Tech (3-0) remained undefeated against Vanderbilt (1-2) since World War II.

The Yellow Jackets won their sixth straight game in the series, improving to 12-0-1 against the Commodores since 1941. …

South Florida 45, Syracuse 20: Rodney Adams scored three touchdowns as USF’s high-powered, quick-strike offense roared back from an early deficit to defeat Syracuse on Saturday and remain unbeaten this season.

The Bulls (3-0) are 5-0 at the Carrier Dome. Led by Marlon Mack’s 115 yards rushing, USF has won 10 of its last 12 games and gained at least 200 yards on the ground for the eighth-straight game. Mack, who rushed for two touchdowns against the Orange a year ago, added two more. D’Ernest Johnson returned a punt 83 yards for another score. …

North Carolina 56, James Madison 28: Mitch Trubisky threw for a careerhigh 432 yards and three touchdowns while setting two school records to help North Carolina beat James Madison in Saturday’s home opener.

Trubisky completed 24 of 27 passes, including a program single-game record of 18 straight before calling it a day early in the fourth. He also has thrown 156 consecutive passes without an interception, breaking a record that had stood since 1997. …

N.C. State 49, Old Dominion 22: Backup quarterback Jalan McClendon rushed for two touchdowns and threw for a third, and North Carolina State beat Old Dominion on Saturday night.

Starter Ryan Finley was 24 of 28 for 281 yards with three touchdown passes to help the Wolfpack (2-1) bounce back from a dispiriting loss at East Carolina. …

Wake Forest 38, Delaware 21: Matt Colburn rushed for a career-high 118 yards and an injury-depleted Wake Forest beat Delaware on Saturday.

Colburn filled in admirably for injured freshman running back Cade Carney, scoring a touchdown just before halftime. The Deacons bookended intermission with scores, opening the third quarter with a 10-play, 75-yard TD drive that extended their lead to 31-14 and ended any thoughts of an upset. …

Virginia Tech 49, Boston College 0: Jerod Evans tied a school record with five touchdown passes and Virginia Tech blanked Boston College 49-0 on Saturday.

Evans played just the first three quarters, leaving with the Hokies (2-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) leading 42-0. He hit Isaiah Ford twice for touchdowns and also found Travon McMillian, Chris Cunningham and Sam Rogers. McMillian also scored on a 7-yard run.

The Eagles (1-2, 0-2) didn’t reach triple figures in total yards until late in the third quarter and finished the game with fewer first downs, six, than Virginia Tech had touchdowns. It was the 10th consecutive loss for Boston College in conference play.
