What is the Mona Lisa Touch?

The Mona Lisa Touch is a noninvasive vaginal laser treatment designed to treat the symptoms of painful intercourse, vaginal dryness, and vaginal burning. These symptoms commonly result from a lack of estrogen which can be caused by menopause and treatments for breast and ovarian cancer.

Is the Mona Lisa Touch the right fit?

This therapy is ideal for woman who have struggled with pain, dryness, and burning. Historically, the only options for these symptoms have been over-the-counter lubricants, vaginal estrogen therapy, and Osphena. Many women are unable or unwilling to use hormone therapy secondary to the risk associated with the medication. The women who do use vaginal estrogen often report partial relief and messy side effects.

How many treatments will be needed?

The therapy consists of three 5-minute treatments performed six weeks apart.

What should be expected during the treatment?

Mona Lisa Touch is an inoffice procedure that requires no anesthesia. It has no side effects, no risks and there is no pain involved. It is recommended that intercourse be avoided for 2 days after treatment, but otherwise, there are no restrictions.

When will results begin to show?

Many patients will begin to see results shortly after the first treatment. With each subsequent treatment, the results are even greater and many women report 80-90 percent improvement in the symptoms after therapy is complete.

How long will the results last?

Occasionally, women will need a one-time annual treatment. Most women will have long-lasting results.
