Rogers Heritage 7, Van Buren 6

Sarah Pollock slapped a two-out, RBI-single to center field to rally the Lady War Eagles to the key 7A-West Conference win Monday at Veterans Park.

Van Buren had taken a 6-4 lead with three runs in the top of the seventh, but Heritage ( 12-12, 7-5 7A-West) bounced back to score three in the bottom of the inning for the walk-off win.

Lora Brown’s two-run double tied it with one out, while Pollock followed with the game-winner.

Pollock also picked up the win in the circle, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits. She struck out 10 and walked six.

Brown, Pollock and Brittney Dean led Heritage with two hits each. Van Buren dropped to 6-5 in 7A-West play.

Greenwood 10, Siloam Springs 0

Greenwood punched its ticket to the Class 6A state softball tournament with a 10-0 victory over Siloam Springs in the opening round of the 6A-West Conference Tournament.

Greenwood scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Ericka Calderon had three hits and two RBIs to lead Greenwood, while Mariah Hamilton had three hits and an RBI. Paxtyn Hayes scored three runs for Greenwood.

Greenwood advances to Wednesday’s winner’s semifinals, while Siloam Springs will play an eliminatio­n game.

Greenwood 9, Siloam Springs 2

The Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals of the 6A-West Conference Tournament and clinched a spot in the Class 6A state tournament with a win against the Panthers.

Greenwood took an early 1-0 lead in the first and scored six runs to go up 7-0 in the second.

The Bulldogs took advantage of six Panthers errors.

Colton Sagely had two hits and scored two runs for Greenwood, while Connor Noland had a hit and scored two runs.

Cooper Van Kooten got the win for Greenwood, while Dawson Armstrong took the loss for Siloam Springs (11-16).

Siloam Springs 7, Greenwood 0

Megan Hutto scored three goals and Audrey Maxwell added two scores as Siloam Springs clinched a Class 6A state tournament berth Monday with a mercy-rule win against Greenwood in the opening round of the 6A-West Conference Tournament at Panther Stadium.

Hutto and Maxwell each scored two goals in the first half as Siloam Springs led 4-0 at halftime. Hutto added her third goal in the second half, and Brittany Pilcher and Joselinne Andrade added the Lady Panthers’ final goal to set the final score.

Siloam Springs (19-3), the No. 1 seed, advances to Wednesday’s semifinals against No. 4 El Dorado, which defeated Lake Hamilton 2-1 on Monday. No. 8-seed Greenwood will play No. 5 Lake Hamilton on Wednesday with the winner advancing to the state tournament and the loser’s season ending.

The Class 6A state tournament will be in Siloam Springs on May 11-13.

Siloam Springs 2, Greenwood 0

Siloam Springs’ boys punched their ticket to the Class 6A state tournament on Monday with a victory over Greenwood in the opening round of the 6A-West Conference Tournament at Panther Stadium.

The Panthers (16-5-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Christian Marroquin converted a penalty kick after Austin Shull was fouled inside the 18-yard box.

Siloam Springs didn’t add an insurance goal until the 79th minute when Noah Slater cashed in on a cross from Shull for a 2-0 lead.

Siloam Springs, the No. 2 seed, will now host No. 3 Benton, which beat Lake Hamilton 6-0 on Monday, on Wednesday. Greenwood will play Lake Hamilton with a state tournament bert on the line.
