Police: Springdale teen robbed two stores
FAYETTEVILLE — A Springdale teen has been arrested in connection with robberies at two stores, police said.
Police arrested Alejandro Vega, 19, of 604 Oak Ave., Apt. E4, Wednesday night in connection with two counts of aggravated robbery and interference with emergency communication.
Vega often goes by the name “Arroyo,” but his legal name is Vega, according to the Washington County Detention Center.
Vega cashed lottery tickets at 8: 28 p. m. Sunday at Ven Mart at 2103 Powell St. in Springdale, according to a police report. He put his hand inside his pocket, demanded money, and left with $1,669.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville police were investigating an armed robbery on April 26 at Fast Trax at 1240 N. Garland Ave.
A man, wearing a “Let’s Get Weird” shirt, brandished a BB gun at 5:30 a.m., and demanded money, according to a police report. The man took cash from the register and took the store’s cordless phone, police said.
Police didn’t say how much money was stolen.
Both stores had surveillance video helping police identify Vega.
Vega agreed to let police search his home where they found a black BB pistol and clothing matching the description of what the robber wore in Springdale, according to the reports.
Vega told police from both departments he robbed the stores.
Vega was at the jail with no bond Thursday.
