Bentonvill­e High 5, Bentonvill­e West 4 (8 inn.)

The Lady Tigers locked down the No. 1 seed from the 7A-West for next week’s state tournament by scoring two runs in the top of the eighth inning and holding off West at the end.

Using the internatio­nal tie-breaker rule, Jenna Wildeman hit an RBI double to score Megan Crownover from second base to break a 3-3 tie, giving Bentonvill­e (26-1, 13-1 7A-West) a 4-3 lead. The Lady Tigers added what proved to be a crucial insurance run with one out on Tymber Riley’s RBI sacrifice fly that scored Wildeman for a 5-3 lead.

West cut the deficit to 5-4 when Sydney Sneed’s sacrifice fly plated Alyssa Sullins, who was placed on second base to start the inning. Bentonvill­e’s Maddy Prough ended the game with a strikeout of Karlie Stafford.

Bentonvill­e led 1-0 before the Lady Wolverines (20-11, 8-5) scored three runs with two outs in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead. Jazmine Dodd singled and Hallie Wacaser smacked an RBI double. Emily Roberson followed with another RBI double to plate Wacaser, and Anna Griffin added an RBI single to bring Roberson in to score.

The Lady Tigers tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the sixth. Wildeman led off with a single and Haley Cornell added another single to put two on. Wildeman scored on a passed ball, and Riley hit a sacrifice fly to score another run.

Wildeman, Jordan Gartman and Calley Cochran all had doubles for Bentonvill­e. Wacaser was 3-for-4 and Roberson was 2-for-3 to pace the Lady Wolverines.

The Lady Wolverines can still lock down the No. 3 seed for next week’s state tournament with a win at home today against Van Buren.

Rogers High 12, Springdale High 2 (5 inn.)

Courtney Storey went 3-for-3 with a triple and drove three runs to lead the Lady Mounties to the run-rule 7A-West Conference win on Thursday at Hunt Park.

Sarah Hulsey, Kaylan Melvin and Mikelyn Bush chipped in two hits each for Rogers ( 16- 6, 12- 2 7A- West). Hulsey drove in two runs with two doubles, while Faith Edwards added a solo home run. Rogers will be the No. 2 seed from the 7A-West and earned a firstround bye in next week’s Class 7A state tournament to be played in Fayettevil­le.

Whitnee Patterson accounted for both Springdale runs with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first ining, while teammate Braden Meredith added two hits for the Lady Red Bulldogs (1-13 7A-West).

Rogers Heritage 11, Springdale Har-Ber 1 (5 inn.)

Brittney Dean and Lora Brown had three hits each and Kelsey Hamlin hit a grand slam to lead the Lady War Eagles to the run-rule 7A-West win Thursday at Veterans Park.

Hamlin finished 2-for-3 and drove in five runs to pace Heritage’s 15-hit attack. Dean and Brown each went 3-for4. Dean scored three times and drove in a run, while Alexa Enos, Sarah Pollock and Mika Polumbo drove in two runs each for the Lady War Eagles (13-13, 8-6 7A-West).

Pollock picked up the win in the circle, allowing one run on three hits over five innings. She struck out six and walked five.

Abi Scott singled and scored HarBer’s lone run. Honesty Holt drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in a run for the Lady Wildcats (8-18, 4-10).

El Dorado 8, Siloam Springs 2

The Lady Panthers’ season came to an end Thursday with a loss to the Lady Wildcats in the consolatio­n bracket of the 6A-West Conference Tournament in El Dorado.

The Lady Panthers finish the season at 3-19 overall and 12 straight losses.

BASEBALL Springdale Har-Ber 9, Rogers Heritage 3

The Wildcats (19-9, 10-4 7A-West) took control with a six-run top of the fourth to rally from an early deficit for the win Thursday.

Blaze Brothers keyed the Wildcats’ big inning with a three-run double. He also scored twice. Caleb Kimbel went 2-for-3 and drove in two for Har-Ber, whch secured the No. 3 seed from the 7A-West in next week’s Class 7A state tournament.

Caleb Grace picked up the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits over five innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Kaleb Gavin went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for Heritage (7-20, 2-12 7A-West), which led 2-1 and 3-2.

Bentonvill­e High 8, Fort Smith Southside 2

The Tigers scored six runs in the fourth inning and rolled to a nonconfere­nce road win Thursday in Fort Smith.

Bentonvill­e (17-10, ) got five solid innings from Mike Andrus, who allowed just one earned run and struck out two to earn the win. Chris Sessions took the loss for Southside.

Nathan Lyons was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs for the Tigers. Karson Coffey and Destyn Adkins also had a pair of hits for Bentonvill­e, and Adkins drove in a pair of runs.

Texarkana 9, Siloam Springs 5

Siloam Springs couldn’t hold on to a 5-2 lead as Texarkana scored seven unanswered runs to end the Panthers’ season in the consolatio­n bracket of the 6A-West Conference Tournament.

The Panthers’ season ends at 11-17 overall.
