Republican ‘attitude’ isn’t helping the nation

While reading the May 27 letter from Dana Hill I started to laugh uncontrollably!

The writer indicated they were sick with the Democrats’ attitude of not cooperating. Unfortunately, the writer either chose to ignore (or, worse, doesn’t understand) the GOP’s Mitch McConnell’s infamous statement, “the single most important thing the GOP should do is limit President Obama to one term.”

On the night of President Obama’s inauguration McConnell held a secret dinner with fellow Republicans to discuss how they could “put the brakes” on any of the president’s legislative platform and show “united and unyielding ” opposition to economic policies. Republican Eric Cantor held the House Republicans to a unanimous “no” vote to the president’s stimulus plan. Never mind that the nation was on the verge of another great depression. The GOP decided to put their power over national interest.

Unfortunately, this Republican attitude continues today — cutting public school and agriculture crop insurance funding while giving huge tax cuts for the rich. All this while taking life-saving insurance away from millions, thus allowing the guy in the red hat and his family to make millions off his presidency.
