ATKINS — Brenda

Roberts, 69, Atkins, Ark., died May 26, 2017. Graveside service 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Alpena Cemetery, under the direction of Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. AVOCA — Billy Elbert Reddick of Avoca died on May 29, 2017. He was born on June 26, 1943, in Avoca to the late Elbert and Isa Reddick. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Jean) Reddick.

Billy will be remembered as a reliable man who devoted his life to helping other people. He had a big heart and plenty of love to go around. For years he was a volunteer firefighter in Avoca. He worked many different jobs, but spent the bulk of his working life at Crane Valves in Rogers, from which he retired when the company closed. His true passion was taking care of his family.

His survivors include his daughters, Donna Jones of Bella Vista, Vivian Mitchell of Bentonville; grandchildren, Jeremy Travis, Jennifer Travis, Dallas Jones, Whitney Jones; great-grandchildren, Hope Travis, Katelyn Travis, Avalee Jones; great- granddog, Sammie Jo; sister, Phoebe Hurst; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife; and sisters, Arlene Robinson, Clorine Mills, and Betty Moses.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday in Liberty Cemetery in Garfield.

BENTONVILLE — David

L. Ward, 61, of Bentonville passed away May 28, 2017. He was born Feb. 9, 1956, in Tacoma, Wash., to Luther and Victoria Frye Ward.

He was an avid outdoorsman.

Survived by his wife, Susan; children, Joshua (Margaret) Ward and Angelene (Gary) Kemp; brother, Lyle (Alice) Ward, five grandchildren and a large extended family.

FAYETTEVILLE — Tyler

Andrew Cullum was born on the 339th day of the 49th week in the year of 1990, aged 26 years. He left on his adventure May 22nd, 2017. Tyler grew up in Fairfield Bay Arkansas. He was loved by everyone… Tyler was a graduate of Shirley High School. He graduated as their Valedictorian

in 2009. He attended the University of Central Arkansas. It didn’t fit his personality so he transferred to his beloved Fayetteville and attended the University of Arkansas. Tyler graduated with a degree in History and Biology. His plan was to attend Law school.

Tyler is the son of William Stuart Cullum and Pamela Lynn Cullum and the bubby of Megan Ranee Cullum. Maternal grandparents are Arthur and Linda Owsley (Independence, Missouri). His paternal grandparents are Francis and William Fernbacher (Shirley, Arkansas and Deceased). Bill and Melody Cullum (Indianapolis, Indiana). He had many aunts, uncles, and cousins, also many many friends and loved ones. Ledger is also missing him greatly.

Tyler was found by his roommate peacefully sleeping forever on his couch on Maple Street in Fayetteville. His memorial service will be on June 3rd, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the Shirley High School Auditorium. Come celebrate Tyler!

FAYETTEVILLE — Lucas

Aaron Hennigan, age 30, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017. He was born March 28, 1987, in Shreveport, La., the son of Stephen and Cheryl Warren Hennigan. Luke was a beautiful soul who found his passion in the culinary arts. He graduated from the French Culinary Institute on Sept. 16, 2008. He first worked in the restaurant industry as a chef, then joined Newly Weds Foods as an embedded chef at Tyson. He joined Tyson Foods in culinary research in May 2016 and had recently become a Certified Research Chef.

He loved live music, outdoor activities and spending time with friends, family and his two dogs. He was a wonderful son and brother, and a passionate creator of food. He brightened the lives of those around him with his kindness, friendliness and humor. He had grown into a young man of integrity who loved to educate and inspire others. Fiercely independent, his path was always his own.

Luke is survived by his father and stepmother, Stephen and Tina Hennigan of Fayetteville; his mother and stepfather, Cheryl and Pete Gilbert of Fayetteville; two sisters, Cari Hennigan of Wichita, Kan., and Sofia Hennigan of Fayetteville; maternal grandmother, Janet Brinson of Shawnee, Kansas; paternal grandmother, Lawrie Hennigan of Springdale; paternal grandfather, Charles Hennigan of Humble, Texas; his stepmother, Michell Lee Hennigan of Fayetteville and his Godparents, Troy and Sheila Johnson of Shreveport, La.

Honorary pallbearers are William McCormick, Christopher Sky Brandon, Nick Jones, Jeffery Callahan, Lisa Yacarino, Tony Lockard, Cameron Tyler McKay and Mario Valdovino.

“Trey” Dale Preston, 45, a resident of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at his home. He was born April 22, 1972, in Fayetteville, the son of Dale and Norma (Starnes) Preston.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Starnes; grandmother, Vesta Preston; grandmother, Wanda Starnes and his father-in-law, Randy Smith.

Hiatt Phillips, 96, of Little Rock passed away on May 29, 2017. She was born on Jan. 18, 1921, in Vesta, Ark., to H. Clyde an d Fa rr y Bonner Hiatt and raised in Charleston.

While attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, she met and later married Harry H. Phillips of Old Alabam, Ark. During their 59 years of marriage, Lucille was a devoted wife and mother, but also made time for her love of gardening. She was active in various garden clubs and other civic organizations in the many cities in which she lived before returning to Arkansas to live in Little Rock. There she followed and developed her interests in interior design and began a retail career in home decorating and furnishings.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her stepmother, Eula Y. Hiatt; and three brothers, Clifton B. Hiatt, Paul Hiatt, and Bill C. Hiatt.

She is survived by her sons, H. Hugh Phillips of Cambridge, Mass., and Clyde H. Phillips of Little Rock, Ark.; a granddaughter, Anastasi Phillips of New York, N.Y.; three brothers, Joe S. Hiatt and Don Y. Hiatt of Charleston, Ark., and Clyde L. Hiatt of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and by her nieces, nephews and their children.

Inurnment will be at the Columbarium of the First United Methodist Church, Charleston, Arkansas.

ROGERS — Jim J. Taylor, age 70, of Rogers, Ark., passed away on May 25, 2017, in Rogers. He was born April 7, 1947, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Sam and Ruby Taylor. He has been a resident of Rogers for more than 41 years.

He graduated from Springdale High School in 1965 and worked as a machinist for the RTW Company, in Rogers, Ark., before retiring with 40-plus years of service.

He loved being outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper. Later in life he took up golf and played weekly for many years. He also enjoyed making the rounds at the local casino, having a good steak and playing the horses and the slots.

He was a do- it-yourself kind of guy and was always making repairs and improvements to his home, vehicles and sporting equipment. He was very personable and also had a keen sense of humor.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Sam M. Taylor; mother, Ruby M. Spears Taylor; and his wife, Judy Carol Sargent Taylor.

He is survived by his son, James M. Taylor of Rogers; stepdaughters, Mary Ann Adams and husband Chris of Springdale, Ark.; Bobye Holt and her husband, Jim Holt, of Tontitown, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; one sister, Brenda Powers and her husband Jerry of Bella Vista; one brother, Jerry Taylor and wife Twila of Springdale; niece, Cassie Taylor of Springdale; and a large group of extended family and lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel in Springdale, Ark., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on 3 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017, at the funeral home.

SPRINGDALE — Kay Danley, age 78, of Springdale, passed away at her home on Friday, May 26, 2017. She was born on Feb. 6, 1939, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Jordan and Mabel Todd Harp.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ward Danley; and her granddaughter, Dani Lightfoot.

Kay spent much of her time as a homemaker, mother, and volunteer at Circle of Life hospice. She loved her family, her Pekingese dogs, and found great joy in taking care of her home.

She is survived by her two daughters, Holly Chamlee, and Cyndi Lightfoot and husband Gene, both of Springdale; her two grandsons, Stephen Lightfoot and fiancé Amy Luckett, and Mitchell Lightfoot, both of Springdale; her great-granddaughter, Railey Whitten; and her two dogs, Maggie and Mike.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Church at 1800 W. Emma Ave., Springdale, Ark. 72762.

Samantha Marlena Holt,

39, of Springdale, Ark., passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark. Samantha was born on Feb. 18, 1978, in Bowie, Texas.

She loved babies and working in the daycare profession.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mary Gigsby and Joe Hopson Jr. and her maternal grandparents, Anna Mae Baker and Harvey Tipton.

Samantha is survived by her husband, James Holt of the home; her mother, Judy Polk; her father, Brad Hopson; four siblings, Shannon Bowles of Vernon, Texas, Jackie Hopson of Palmdale, Calif., Amber Bingham and husband Kevin of Bowie, Texas, and Jamie Kincannon; her mother and father- in- law, John and Vicki Holt of Clarksville, Ark.; brother-in-law, Brandon Holt and wife Whitney of Springdale, Ark.; and several stepbrothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.

SPRINGDALE — Willa Mae “Billie” Rosamond,

a ge 8 8 , o f Springdale, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 16, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan., to Carl Phillip and Susan Hopp Yauk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Rosamond; and her two brothers, Gene Yauk and Ronnie Yauk.

Billie was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she faithfully served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She began the ministry of Project Compassion, which she directed for decades until her health prevented her from continuing. Through this ministry, the needs of the hungry and those who struggled with spiritual, emotional and physical problems were met. Billie had a servant’s heart and selflessly served others, seeking no attention or acclaim for herself. Throughout her life, Billie lived out the Great commandment given in Matthew 26: 36-40.

Billie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was to spend time with her family.

She is survived by her four children, Judi Cox and husband Walter of Fayetteville, Steve Rosamond and wife Lea Ann of Springdale, Jerry Rosamond and wife Kathy of Victoria, Minn., and Carla Culp and husband Greg of Fayetteville; one brother, Richard Yauk of Wichita, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

BREMERTON, Wash. —

Phillip L. Mhoon of Bremerton, Wash., passed away May 18, 2017. He was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of Gordon Mhoon, and Ilah Todd Mhoon.

He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1954, and attended the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.

He married Sharon Ingram in 1958, and they had one son, Jeffery Todd Mhoon.

Phillip’s lifelong love of boating began when he joined the Naval Reserve during his senior year in high school, and he served the U.S. Navy proudly for 20 years, retiring from active duty with the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1974.

He then went on to civil service work at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, in Keyport, Wash., where he was instrumental to the development of the Tomahawk Missile Systems.

After retiring in 2005, he was able to fully indulge his passion for books and reading, and cruising the high seas with his son and their families in their boat, the LUNA III.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon; his son, Jeff Mhoon and wife Heather, of Silverdale, Wash.; two grandsons, Dominic and Andrew Cromett, of Silverdale; a sister, Shirley Blackston (Jim), of Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother, Roger Mhoon (Peggy), of Springfield, Mo., a brother, Shane Mhoon ( Kayla), of Fayetteville; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, who will miss his wit and sense of adventure.

At Phil’s request, there will be no service, but his family will spread his ashes in the waters of the San Juan Islands, one of his favorite vacation spots.
