■ Carole Richardson, 49, of Texas City, Texas, freed from a life sentence for multiple drug conviction­s after President Barack Obama granted her clemency last year, admitted she wasted a rare opportunit­y as a federal judge sent her back to prison for 14 months for probation violations.

■ Eric Purdue rescued a dog in Tucker, Ga., that he found along an all-terrain vehicle trail buried alive with just its nose showing, prompting animal advocates to offer a $5,000 reward for informatio­n leading to the arrest of the person who left the dog there. ■ Wichai, a salesman identified by only one name to protect his privacy, was sentenced by a military court in Bangkok to 35 years in prison for making social media posts that prosecutor­s deemed defamed Thailand’s monarchy.

■ Robert Oranchak, a police sergeant in Washington Township, N.J., said a mother and two children called for help after being cornered in a bathroom by a bobcat that left the house after about an hour when officers opened doors and windows so the animal could get out.

■ Martin Delgadillo of Plainfield, N.J., said he now realizes texting and walking can be as bad as texting while driving after watching a 67-year-old woman, distracted by her cellphone, fall 6 feet through sidewalk cellar doors that had been left open.

■ Sean Dolhancryk, 32, and Sandra Dicianno, 31, were jailed after being saved by their 4-yearold and 1-year-old boys who yelled out a window for help when the couple passed out from heroin overdoses, police in Upper Darby, Pa., said.

■ Mindy Damica of Pevely, Mo., said she heard a “big bang” as a steel plate that fell off a railroad bridge hit her car, putting holes in the roof before crashing through the window near the car seat holding her 12-week-old daughter, with neither mother nor child being injured.
