ALPENA — Michael Larry Cushman died June 10. He served in the US Air Force. Preceded in death by daughter; Rebecca Cushman. Survivors: wife; Vicky Cushman, children; Todd, Jennifer, Heather, Holly, Heidi, and 18 grandchildren. BELLA VISTA — Larry Byron Lemire, 63, died June 11, 2017, in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born on March 3, 1954, to Lawrence Lemire and Mary Lemire. In 1988, he married Barbara Lemire and they raised two children — Kevin Spencer and Megan Lemire.
Larry worked as a manufacturing engineer for 42 years before retiring in 2015. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter. BENTONVILLE — Junior “Jay” Carmon Berry, 70, of Bentonville passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017. He was born Aug. 9, 1946, in Imboden, Ark., to the late Lee and Pearl McNabb Berry.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was the loving husband of the late Norine Ann Coates Berry and his deep devotion continued for the rest of his life.
He moved from Phoenix to Bentonville following his retirement as the chief supervisor of clerks in the Maricopa County court system. He enjoyed reading, exploring atlases and observing the weather on TV and in the yard.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded by all 12 of his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy Lynn Berry of Bentonville; granddaughter, Amy Marina Berry of Fayetteville; grandson, Parker Jay Spencer of Bentonville and a large extended family. FAYETTEVILLE — Maxine Anderson of Fayetteville, Ark. She lost her first husband to polio, leaving her with two very young sons. Sixteen years later she lost her second husband to a heart attack, leaving her with a very young daughter. She lost her third husband after they moved to Arkansas to enjoy retirement. Yet, throughout all of her sorrows, she retained her joyful, positive attitude and sense of humor. Maxine was one of a kind and she passed peacefully to her heavenly home on June 2, 2017, just weeks shy of her 99th birthday.
The youngest of nine children, Maxine was born on July 31, 1918, at the family farm in Boxholm, Iowa, to Otto and Mary Stark. She married Harold Brown in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1940 and they moved
to California where Harold worked as a lumber jack and Maxine was the camp cook. When their first son was three, they moved back to Pilot Mound, Iowa, to farm the family land. Their second son was born there just 11 months before Harold contracted polio and passed soon after. Maxine remained on the farm until her sons were both in school and then moved to Des Moines and began a successful career at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
While raising her sons and pursuing her career, Maxine married Robert Sullivan and when their daughter was six years old, Bob passed away. Maxine continued her busy life in Des Moines, raising her children, working with her sisters to cook and bake wonderful Swedish dishes including decorating Christmas cookies that they would donate to children’s charities, and enjoying many friendships that would last a lifetime. In 1978, Maxine married Hans Anderson, and retired to Rogers, Ark., where she remained in her own home until the last four years.
Maxine is survived by her children, Jerry (Becky) Brown, Gene (Mara) Brown and Michelle (Jerry) Bland, grandsons, Ryan (Bonnie) Brown and Eric Brown, granddaughter, Cindy (Mike) Wolfe, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lee, Mike, Ed and sisters, Delia, Belva, Edna, Frances, Ione and granddaughter, Jessica Williams.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 16 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1901 S 26th Street and New Hope Road, Rogers, Ark.
FAYETTEVILLE — Myles Austin McCullough, 34, of Fayetteville, died Friday June 9, 2017, as a result of a motorcycle accident in the beautiful Arkansas countryside. My les was born April 16, 1983, in Denver, Colo., the only son of Samuel Rickey and Teresa Faye McCullough.
Myles attended high school in Nashville, Ark., where he brought the Scrappers football team to many victories.
Continuing his education at Arkansas Tech in Russellville, he developed lifelong friendships in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, then went on to complete his degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Arkansas. He was employed by Central States Manufacturing in Lowell, Ark.
Myles spent the last six years of his life honoring his father Rick by enjoying the freedom of riding on two wheels, as Rick always did also. He took the utmost pride in restoring and riding his father’s 1975 Harley-Davidson shovelhead. Fueled by this unchained passion that never ceased, he felt closest to his father when riding the open road on his dad’s bikes and connecting to the people that his dad held most dear.
Myles is survived by his devoted wife of 10 happy years, Stephanie Leah, and his two precious children, Lillyn Grace 9 and son, Lucas Austin 6, his beloved family, mother Teresa, his two younger sisters, Sara and Jessica, and older sister, Heather McCullough-Berhalter.
Being a father and family man is what he loved most in life, never passing up an opportunity to take his sweet kids down to the creek or on an adventure in nature.
Myles also leaves behind his paternal grandfather, Reeder McCullough of Nashville, Ark., paternal aunt Rita Simpson and family of Wichita, Kan., in-laws Fred and Carolyn Woehl of Harrison, Ark., and all the Woehl family and maternal grandmother Carol Fanshier. Myles McCullough, a bold son, loving brother, worthy uncle, proud father, dedicated husband, and friend and inspiration to many, will be greatly missed.
A party to celebrate Myles’ life and all the good times will be held at Mermaids in Fayetteville — drop in anytime between 5 and 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 17.

HARRISON — William Robert Breit, age 62, of Harrison, Ark., son of the late Dr. William H. Breit and the late Betty Breit Barker, passed away peacefully at his home after a long battle with respiratory illness on June 9, 2017.
Bob attended elementary and junior high school in Harrison, Ark., and after moving to Paris, Texas, following the death of his father, graduated from Paris High School. He was a graduate of Paris Junior College with a degree in watch and jewelry making. He was a certified gemologist. Bob enjoyed taking classes at North Arkansas Community College the last few years where he made the Dean’s List several times. Bob was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by sisters, Barbara Maris (Pete), of Little Rock, and Beth Green (the late Mike Green), of Prairie Grove; brother Bill Barker (Gudrun), of Oklahoma; Aunt Virginia Riggs, of Fayetteville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his friends at Woodland Heights Apartments, and Jack Rose for their help and friendship to Bob.

Ann Marshall, 55, of Huntsville, Ark., died June 11, 2017, at her home. She was born Dec. 18, 1961, at Rapid City, S.D., the daughter of Clarence and Edrekka Somervo l d Roberts. She was a former field inspector for the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, camping and arts and crafts. She loved being with her children.
Survivors include: her husband, James T. Marshall, Jr. of the home; four sons and two daughters- in- law, Billy and Lacey Hamblin of Hindsville, Ark., Steven and Sarah Castleman of Springdale, Ark., Bobby Marshall and Tommy James Marshall, both of the home; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dekka Marshall of the home, Meranda and Sean Coble of Springdale, Ark., Jennifer Marshall and Dale Grigg of Kingston, Ark., and Stacey and Jason Smith of Huntsville, Ark.; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Clarence and Lish Robert and Bill Roberts all of Springdale, Ark., and Dan Roberts of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Eva Roberts of Springdale, Ark., and Sherry Best of Wichita, Kan., and 11 grandchildren.

SUMMERS — John Odle “J.O.” Beaty, 89, a resident of Summers, Ark., passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Springdale, Ark. He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Summers, Ark., the son of John Odle and Cadie (Green) Beaty Sr.
J.O. was a charter member of the Summers Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a 32nd degree Mason and member of Cincinnati 102 and Lincoln 615 Lodges and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a founding board member of the West Washington County EMS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Martha Jane Phillips; two nieces and one nephew-inlaw. Survivors include his wife, Ila Jean Beaty; two sons, William O. “Bud” Beaty and Robert Lynn Beaty; one daughter, Jeanine Woodward and husband Bill three grandchildren, Andrea Jones Baird and husband Ricky, John Marshall Jones and wife Ashley and Andrew Russell Woodward; three great- grandsons, Chase Richard Baird, Grant Marshall Jones and Alexander Lee Jones; several nieces and nephews.

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio —
Alvitta Carolyn Ward, born in Springdale, Ark., on Sept. 22, 1948, to Claude and Minnie Murray passed from this life on June 2, 2017. Carolyn lived the majority of her life in the Benton County area of Arkansas.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Ward; her parents; her brother, Delvin Murray; three sisters, Charlene McFerrin, Evelyn Jones and Betty Bell. She is survived by two daughters, Lana Turner and husband Jeff of Gravette; Dana Newman and husband Rusty of Bentonville; five sons, Charles Garrett and wife Lisa of Gravette; Preston Ward of Circleville, Ohio; Beau Ward of Circleville, Ohio; Rick Ward of Rogers; David Ward of Bentonville; two sisters, Lois Kaszycki and husband George of Bella Vista; Dell Boyd and husband Gary of Pea Ridge; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

FRISCO, Texas — Lela Altona Howell Spangler,
94, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2017, in Frisco, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Lela was born March 7, 1923, in Treece, Kan., to Herman Gentry and Tona Pearl Henderson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Ralph and Robert Henderson, two sisters, Mary Agnes King and Bonnie Woods. Also preceding her in death were husbands, Charles Howell and Alvan Spangler. She is survived by one brother, Herbert Henderson and wife Mary Jo of Pea Ridge, one son, Kenneth Howell and wife Debbie of Frisco, Texas, one grandson, Charles Howell and wife Cheryl of McKinney, Texas, and two great grandchildren, Kaylee Howell and Wyatt Howell both of McKinney, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Lela spent the majority of her life in Northwest Arkansas where she loved to spend Sundays attending Tucks Chapel Church and Pea Ridge Church of the Nazarene. She provided day care from her home for 40 years caring for over five hundred area children. She described her service to the working parents of the community as “the happiest days of my life.”
Today Lela is in heaven with the ability to see, with perfect vision, the glory and majesty of her Savior and can walk without assistance as she renews acquaintances with family and friends gone before her. She also looks back towards us and beckons for us to trust Jesus and follow her someday for a great reunion in the sky.
