Man pleads not guilty in connection with shooting two people

BENTONVILLE — A Lowell man on Monday pleaded not guilty to felony charges in connection with the shooting of two people.

Keylan Osburn is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, battery, domestic battering and aggravated residential burglary. Osborn entered his pleas during an arraignment before Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren. Osburn is being held on $250,000 bond in the Benton County Jail.

Osborn was arrested after the shootings and a four-hour standoff with police at Fairways at Lost Springs apartment complex in Little Flock on April 14.

Jessica Osburn, Keylan Osburn’s wife, suffered two gunshot wounds to the head, according to a probable cause affidavit. Carlos Martinez was hit by a gunshot in the shoulder, according to court documents.

Osburn, 28, told police he went to the apartment to convince his wife to come home, according to a probable cause affidavit. He claimed she and Martinez were having an affair.

Osburn claimed he grabbed his pistol to scare Martinez, according to the affidavit.

Osburn said he knocked on the apartment door and spoke several times through the door to get them to let him inside.

Osburn said he fired one shot into the door and a second into the deadbolt lock. He then heard Martinez say, “You shot your wife in the face,” the affidavit says.

Osburn then forced his way into the apartment and saw his wife, covered in blood, run toward the bathroom. Osburn said he and Martinez began to fight over the gun and it fired during the struggle, the affidavit states.

Osburn gained control of the pistol, pointed it at Martinez and told him to get out of the apartment, according to the affidavit.

An omnibus hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 30.
