Man held in connection with sexual assault

BENTONVILLE — Thomas James Jones, 37, of Rogers was arrested Monday in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Jones was being held in the Benton County Jail Wednesday on a $100,000 bond.

The case was referred to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office after a report was received by the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children hotline, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The girl was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County, according to court documents. She reported Jones began to abuse her when she was younger than 10 and said the abuse also happened while she lived in another state, according to the affidavit.

Jones’ arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Aug. 21 in Benton County Circuit Judge Robin Green’s court.
