BELLA VISTA — Stephany Kay Lacy, 79, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice Home in Bentonvill­e, Ark. Born Sept. 3, 1938, in Columbus, Stephany was the daughter of Robert and Doris Grisham. They preceded her in death.

Stephany and Jay Lacy were united in marriage June 15, 1959, in Columbus. A graduate of Cherokee County Community High School with the class of 1956, Stephany attended Wichita University and Pittsburg State University. She completed her internship in medical technology at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She obtained her license from the American Society of Clinical Pathologis­ts. Stephany was a longtime employee of Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg. Proud of her work, she also worked in labs in Kansas City, Joplin, Mo.. Baxter Springs and Bentonvill­e, Ark.

A member of the Presbyteri­an Church in Columbus, Stephany was an accomplish­ed musician and loved her family. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She was a Kansas State sporting events fan.

Stephany is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jay Lacy; daughter, Pamela Duley (Earl) of Carrollton, Texas; and son, Benjamin Lacy (Amenda) of Bentonvill­e, Ark. Her sister, Micki Ward, of Columbus; along with five grandchild­ren, Erin Shamlian (Jon) of Dallas, Texas, Jessica Duley of Denton, Texas, Sophia Lacy, Thomas Lacy and John Lacy, all of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; and one great-grandson, Kyle Shamlian also survive.

No services are planned at this time. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

BELLA VISTA — Pauline Culmer, 99, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Oct. 11, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village. She was born on Sept. 18, 1918, in Cheyenne, Okla., to Hagan Beavin and Mable (Warren) Beavin.

Pauline moved with her husband, Ted, to Bella Vista in 1979 from Talala, Okla. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She served on POA Parks & Recreation Board, Secretary and President of N.A.R.F.E.. former member of Women’s 9-Hole Golf Associatio­n, Women’s Club and Salvation Army Doll & Clothing project.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ted; her oldest son, Allan; and four sisters.

She is survived by her son, Dwayne Culmer of Rogers; two daughters, Shari Petrie of Shelton, Wash., and Deborah Culmer of Santa Cruz, Calif.; her daughter-in-law, Janet Culmer of Bella Vista; six grandchild­ren and 13 great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild.

BENTONVILL­E — Cynthia L. Massey suddenly passed away at 10:10 pm, Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at the age of 61 in Bentonvill­e, Ark. Cynthia was born in Chicago, Ill., but was lifelong resident of Arkansas.

Cynthia lived her life to the fullest and loved to laugh. She brought joy to everyone around her and was loved by so many.

Cynthia is survived by her best friend and husband, Jeffrey Massey. They were married for 18 years and she was the love of his life. Cynthia is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jeff; daughters, Tesa and Cissily Gomez; grandchild­ren, Ayla, Shae, Brianna, Bailey, Cailyn and Sophia Gomez; great-grandchild­ren, Dominic Popken and Izaiah Gracia; brothers, Michael, Tony and Todd Phipps; sister, Angela Atkins and many other loved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale, Ark.

BENTONVILL­E — On Oct. 13, 2017, Wanda J. Muse passed peacefully from this life into the waiting and loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wanda was born and raised in Malvern, Ark., the youngest of four sisters. She retired from years of service at the Benton Services Center nursing home in Benton, Ark. She had no greater pleasure than helping others and the joy she had for raising her children was unsurpasse­d. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Centerton, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. Muse; her sisters, Billie Hossfeld, Lorena Austin, Bonnie Brookes; and her parents, Percy and Lula Hossfeld.

Wanda is survived by her son and his wife, Don and Lynn Muse of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; daughter and husband, Vanessa and Mike Steves of Benton, Ark.; and daughter and husband, Dorothy and Howard Daniel of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandson, Dane Shaw of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five great-grandchild­ren; three nieces; and countless friends.

Wanda loved everyone she met and was loved by them as well. She leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories and a family that will strive to honor her legacy of loving people. Although her family mourns her passing from this world, they rejoice that she is now free from the weariness of this earth and is walking with Christ and her departed family in Heaven.

She will be laid to rest with her husband in Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Ark.

EVANSVILLE — John Robin Stand, age 61, of Evansville, Ark., peacefully passed away on Oct. 11, 2017, at his home as he was surrounded by family and loved ones. He was proud to be saved prior to his passing and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

John is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille (Pershall) Stand.

John is survived by his wife, Susan Stand of the home; Misty Metcalf and her husband ,Jeff Metcalf, of Siloam Springs, Ark.; five bonus children: Wade Woodrum, Jimmie Burger, Aaron Burger, Andrea Rennie and Brandie Russell; four grandchild­ren: Yeley Metcalf, Racin Metcalf, Faith Woodrum and Lorelei Burger.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Dale Lee Karr, 71, of Fayettevil­le, passed from this life on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, in Springdale. He was born on Sept. 22, 1946, in Oark, Ark., to Hoyt and Effie (Acord) Karr.

On Aug. 27, 1965, he married the love of his life, Ruth (Samuels) Karr. He was a great and loving husband, father and grandfathe­r. He was also faithful member of Sonora Baptist Church where he was always willing to serve. He was also known to be an avid outdoorsma­n. Dale impacted many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Effie Karr; nephews, Christophe­r Karr, Aaron Madewell and Mark Mayes; and his daughter in law, Lisa Karr.

Left to cherish Dale’s memory are his wife, Ruth Karr of Fayettevil­le; sons, Brian Karr and wife June of Springdale, and Gary Karr and wife Teresa of Elgin, S.C.; sisters, Joyce Mayes and Darlene Madewell; a brother, Doyle Karr; and granddaugh­ter, Lexi Karr.

Visitation services will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Sonora Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Sonora Baptist Church. A burial service will be at 2 p.m. at Oark Cemetery in Oark, Arkansas.

FORT SMITH — Edward M. “Eddie” Hahn, 76, of Fort Smith, formerly of Charleston, Ark., passed away Oct. 14, 2017. He was born June 9, 1941, in Fort Smith, Ark., to the late Edward Mathew and Lucyle McGee Hahn.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston and served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, a 1959 graduate of Fort Smith Senior High, and a graduate of the University of Arkansas. He had a love for animals, Diet Pepsi, music, spending time in Branson and driving his 1967 Corvette Stingray.

Mr. Hahn owned and operated Smith Mortuary serving many families throughout the Charleston community and the surroundin­g areas. He also owned and operated Arkansas Wilbert Vault for almost 35 years, serving many funeral homes throughout the Arkansas River Valley, Northwest Arkansas and parts of Oklahoma for many years.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at Smith Mortuary Chapel and burial will follow in Garden of Memories in Charleston, Ark., under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Charleston, Ark. Rev. Mike Love, Rev. Bill Van Meter, and Rev. Artie Hudson will officiate.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 44 years, Cy Rice Hahn of Fort Smith, one daughter, Shannon Hahn Robertson and husband Danny of Bella Vista, Ark.; one sister, Jane Hodnett and husband Bill of Keller, Texas; his mother-in-law, Mattie Mae Rice of Fort Smith; two grandchild­ren, McKenna Jewell and husband Rick of Watson, Okla., and Garrett Robertson of Dierks; one great-grandchild, Weston Jewell.

GRAVETTE — Ruth Darlene Gathman Mitchael passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark.

She was born March 10, 1933, to John Gathman and Waneta Jones Gathman in Pittsburg, Kan. She grew up learning about her Lord and Savior in the First Christian Church in Mindenmine­s, Mo. She went to school in Mindenmine­s, Mo., and after graduating she spent one year at Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kan.

She decided to move to Wichita and took a position with Boeing where she met John Mitchael in 1952. They married Feb. 1, 1953, and raised three children in Derby, Kan. They moved to Gravette, Ark., in 1991 after John retired from Boeing, where they have been members of the First Christian Church.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, John Lee Mitchael; daughter, Jan Rene’ Mitchael Thurman (Clayton); son, Steven Lee Mitchael (Jill) and son, Jay Scott Mitchael (Jennifer). She has six grandchild­ren, Randy Scott Thurman, Lauren Michelle Mitchael, Jake Lee Mitchael, Joshua Reed Mitchael, Jayni Elizabeth Mitchael and Ava Jordan Ruth Mitchael. She has eight great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, (Dortha Mae Dudley); one brother, (John Gathman Jr.); granddaugh­ter, (Rebecca Lynn Thurman); and stepfather, (Ray Maxwell).

Funeral arrangemen­ts are being handled by Bella Vista Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the First Christian Church in Gravette from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Heritage Baptist Church in Gravette at 2 p.m. Graveside services will be at the Lee Cemetery for family only.

PEA RIDGE — John (Jack) Douglas Hayes, 83, of Pea Ridge, Ark., died Oct. 12, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born on Sept. 15, 1934, in San Mateo, Calif., to James C. and Mary S. (Caetano) Hayes.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his wife, Julia N. (Schomaker/Pinckney) Hayes.

He is survived by his brother James (Nancy) Hayes; sister, Mary Ann (William) Lawless, two sons, Michael Schomaker (Andrea) of Garfield, Ark, and Eric Schomaker (Sherry) of Alpine, Utah, nine grandchild­ren and 27 great-grandchild­ren.

He was born Aug. 22, 1941, in Anthony, Kan., to Willard and Elsie (Smith) Dial.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Curtis Wade Dial.

Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deanna Wade Dial; his children, Dwane Maynard, Wendi Jones (husband Mike), Michael James Dial (wife Kindra), Michelle Humphries (husband Larry) Ashley Williams (husband Ed); grandsons, Michael and Jonathan Dial, Kori Ford, Logan Humphries, and Nicholas Williams, granddaugh­ters, Kreeli Ford, Tiffany (Dial) Jackson (husband Jason), Skie-Leigh Pina, Jessica Maynard, and Aleson Williams; step-grandchild­ren, Hannah, Josh, and Jacob Jones, brother Pat Dial (wife Marcia) and sister, Dana Brown (husband Jack). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mike graduated from Anthony High School in 1959, Arkansas City Junior College in 1961, and Northweste­rn State College with a degree in Business Science and Economics in 1966. He held advanced degrees from Vanderbilt University and the University of Michigan and IBM in New York. He worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kan., from 1966 to 1971. From there, Mike went on to serve in several capacities at Cooper Communitie­s in Bella Vista for over 30 years. He was the Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer when he retired from there in 1999. Afterwards, Mike served as CFO for Alice Walton at Ozark Aircraft Systems and JB and Johnelle Hunt at Montana Tractor. He also owned his own financial consulting business.

Mike was a Certified Management Accountant, a member of the National Land Institute, a longtime member of the Arkansas Razorback Foundation, and the Arkansas Alumni Associatio­n, and the Rogers-Bentonvill­e Elks Lodge. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Anthony, Kan. He was the longest sustaining member of the Northwest Arkansas Bass Masters. He also served as the Treasurer of Arkansas Bass Nation from 2013 to February 2017.

The highlights of his life were creating memories with Deanna, his children and grandchild­ren, fishing with his brother Pat and members of the NW Arkansas Bass Masters and the Coyotes. He was a workaholic, an avid dancer and he loved to sing.

Visitation will be held at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A celebratio­n of Mike’s life will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Mildred Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, Ark.

SPRINGDALE — Eugene “Gene” Culver, 85, of Springdale passed away on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born on Sept. 24, 1932, to Comar and Minnie Lee Culver.

He served in the United States Army. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Culver and J.W. Culver; and one son, Donnie Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanetta Wages Culver; one daughter, Athena Sackett; two sons, Rick and wife Amy of Springdale, Scott and wife Lisa of Springdale; two brothers, Johnny and wife Judy of Paris, Ark., and Thomas Culver who passed the following day on Sunday, Oct. 15; grandchild­ren, Cody Culver, Shelby Culver, Mallory Culver, Phillip Culver, Holly Culver, all of Springdale, Casey McClendon of Durango, Colo., and Nicholas Sackett of Springdale.

Visitation services will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home in Springdale. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Westfield Chapel. Final resting place will be at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.
