Tusk and Trotter features outstanding food, drinks, desserts and more

Tusk and Trotter American Brasserie features an atmosphere casual enough to invite families, with a menu sophisticated enough to wow the most traveled gourmet. The floor plan was designed to invite families seeking to enjoy a delicious dinner, professionals wanting to meet for lunch or unwind after work, or a group of friends who just need a place to catch up. The building, which was once Sam Walton’s general office and warehouse, is divided structurally in a way that naturally separates the quiet dining area to the south from the casual lounge area to the north. Tusk and Trotter prides itself on using local products. From the ham chop to the “Teeree” ground lamb burger and the cheesesteak, all use Arkansas-based ingredients. Every weekday from 2:30-6:30 p.m., the pub has “Tusk at Dusk,” featuring discounted cocktails and seven great food items to choose from for $5 and under. Try one of the 10 different Bloody Mary flavors or go with a flight of three if you can’t pick just one. Executive Chef Rob Nelson is a University of Arkansas graduate and attended culinary school in Boulder, Colo., as well as France before relocating to Northwest Arkansas. Tusk and Trotter has brought several unique dishes to Bentonville since it opened in 2011. Nelson brought his passion for charcuterie to the area after returning from France. “We are a snout-to-tail restaurant, meaning we don’t waste any part of the pig,” he said. All of the bacon and pastrami are made at the restaurant.” The menus is a representation of “progressive American” food, Nelson said. “We take traditional American comfort food and give it a modern or European twist,” he said. Among a long list of other awards Tusk and Trotter has received, the restaurant’s “Trot on Over Here” dessert was named the best bacon dish in the south by Southern Living magazine.
