TEXARKANA, circa 1930 “This is the hospital. The extension out there is colored ward & on the other side is another for isolation of contagious & other isolated patients. The road circles the hospital. The nurses home is to the left & closer to the highway.” The commentary described the Cotton Belt Hospital that had been built in 1904 at a cost of $125,000 to serve the railroad’s employees. It was torn down years ago, the tower preserved in a local park at the time.
