Button earns Scout award

Connor Button, 17, a member of Troop 46 at the Mount Sequoyah Retreat and Conference

Center in Fayettevillle, recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He built and installed shelves in the band percussion room at Fayetteville

High School. He is a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s honor society, and has served in several leadership positions. He’s also visited the high-adventure bases at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Northern Tier in Minnesota. He will attend this summer’s National Order of the Arrow Conference at Indiana University. He is the son of Kristi and Rob Button of Fayetteville and a senior at Fayetteville High School.

Jones attains Eagle Scout

Patrick B. Jones, 17, of Fort Smith earned his Eagle Scout rank on Dec. 6 during a Feb. 24 ceremony in Fort Smith. Jones, son of Maggie and Kevin Jones of Fort Smith, is a member of Troop 380 at Immaculate Conception

Fort Smith. His Eagle Scout project included restoration and repair of the Knights of Columbus Council 996 playground area at Columbus Acres in Fort Smith.

Thirty-six University of Arkansas Fort Smith employees were honored for their years of service to the university at a bi-annual staff meeting Feb. 28.
