Bentonville to give trees away April 14
BENTONVILLE — The city will host its 15th tree giveaway April 14 to increase its tree canopy, promote a healthier environment and enhance its aesthetics.
The event will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bentonville Community Center, 1101 S.W. Citizens Circle, according to a news release.
About 400 trees will be available to residents. There will be a limit of two trees per household. Only residents who live within the city qualify for the trees. Those who live outside the cit but still have a Bentonville address will not.
Registration is available and enables participants to receive in advance residency verification and tree reservation for pick up at any time during the event.
About 50 trees will be available for residents who don’t register.
The giveaway is made possible by the city’s Tree and Landscape Committee, Bentonville Parks Conservancy, Steuart Walton and the Walton Family Foundation.
Tree species that will be given away include bald cypress, Oklahoma whitebud, red maple, shortleaf pine, sugar maple, tulip tree and white flowering dogwood.
The registration link will be live Thursday at www. bentonvillear.com/837/SpringTree-Giveaway.
