ALMA — Jim Sargent
Jr., 92, of Alma, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, in Fort Smith. He was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Figure Five to the late Jim and Ada Sargent Sr.
He was the re t i red co- owner of Farmer’s Livestock Auction, a 32nd Degree Mason, and attended First Baptist Church in Alma. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved to fish and garden; and had friends all over Northwest Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Sargent, and a daughter, Judy Taylor. He is survived by his children, Harold Sargent of Springdale, Pat Satterfield and husband Clovis of Alma, and Butch Sargent and wife Judy of Alma; nine grandchildren, Gina Hampton, Mary Ann Adams, Justin Sargent, Kim Longmate, Bobye Holt, Kyle Satterfield, Andi Nigh, Kaci Sargent, and Will Sargent, numerous great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Alma with interment to follow at Sarah Grove Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, Ark. Pallbearers will be Kyle Satterfield, Justin Sargent, Will Sargent, Lee Nigh, and Chris Adams.
The family will visit with friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, Ark. Dalton Parker, 78, of Huntsville, Ark., passed away May 30, 2018, at Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Brashears Funeral Home with Coy Siegrist officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Parker Cemetery.
