■ Lady
Gaga is heading to
Las Vegas for a residency in December and offering fans two kinds of shows. The singer announced Tuesday that she will kick off the first of 27 performances at the Park Theater on Dec. 28. “Lady Gaga Enigma” will highlight the pop star’s biggest and upbeat hits, while “Lady Gaga Jazz & Piano” will feature more strippeddown songs. Tickets go on sale Aug. 13. Gaga has won six Grammy Awards and is best known for her dancepop hits like “Poker Face” and “Born This Way.” She also released a jazz album with Tony Bennett. The 32-year-old will star in the remake of A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper, who also directed and cowrote the film. It opens in U.S. theaters Oct. 5.
■ Mickey Mouse is getting the full star treatment as the iconic character turns 90 this year. ABC on Tuesday announced Mickey’s 90th Spectacular, a two-hour prime-time special, will air on Nov. 4. The program will feature tributes and never-before-seen short films of The Walt Disney Co.’s global ambassador, who made his film debut in Steamboat Willie on Nov. 18, 1928. The list of performers participating in the celebration will be released at a later date. Don Mischer will produce and direct the celebration, which will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Mischer says Walt Disney inspired him to pursue his life’s work in television. Walt Disney is the parent company of ABC. ■ Comedian and actor Jim Carrey says his cartoons pillorying the Trump administration are a civilized response to what he called an unfolding “nightmare.” Carrey told a TV critics’ meeting Monday that his sketches may veer into crassness but are a creative way to express his political opposition. He stars in the new Showtime series Kidding, which debuts Sept. 9. Those who have gotten the Carrey cartoon treatment include President Donald Trump and White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Carrey’s sketch of Sanders was blasted as sexist and bigoted by Sanders’ father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
