Former day care teacher accused of sexual assault

BENTONVILL­E — A Rogers man was arrested for a second time in connection with sexually assaulting a child at the day care where he worked, according to a news release from the Bentonvill­e Police Department.

Nathan Clemons, 24, was arrested Wednesday in connection with felony sexual assault.

The arrest came after an investigat­ion by police found a second child who says Clemons sexually assaulted her, according to the release.

Clemons’ attorney Kent McLemore declined to comment on the case.

Clemons was arrested June 29 in connection with sexually assaulting a child at the daycare, according to the release.

Clemons’ first arrest connected with his job at Mary’s Little Lamb Preschool was on charges he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old boy, according to the probable cause affidavit. The boy told his parents Clemons had g ive n h i m a mass a ge during “movie time” and had touched him inappropri­ately.

Prosecutor­s have formally charged Clemons in the first case, and he faces from five to 20 years in prison if convicted of the charge. He pleaded not guilty to the charge at his arraignmen­t Monday.

A formal charge has not been filed in connection with Clemons’ second arrest.

Clemons was released on $50,000 bond after the June arrest.

Circuit Judge Brad Karren set Clemons’ bond at $25,000 for the second case.

Clemons’ arraignmen­t on the second arrest is scheduled for 8 a. m. Sept. 12 in Karren’s court.
