What is right for us
There will never be a more important event in our country than this election. We have reached a crossroads. Which path do you want our state and our country to take? Let’s talk political parties. First, the Republican Party has changed dramatically, and conservative no longer means what it used to. You doubt it? Look at our current national debt. That’s not to say the Democratic Party has not changed. For one thing it used to pretty much control Arkansas. Well, not anymore. What went wrong? First, it needs a bit more experience in taking the low road which, to give them credit, the Republicans have mastered. You think people don’t believe those negative ads—wrong. If it didn’t work, Republicans wouldn’t keep using them.
Now, let’s do Arkansas starting at the top. Do you want Clarke Tucker or French Hill to be your representative? First, spend a few minutes reading the biographies of both men. Then look who is backing them. I think if you do that there is no doubt you will vote for Clarke Tucker. His life’s journey, which includes a bout with cancer, tells you he will care about your health and your family.
Next, we all know there is no such thing as an unimportant political race. We can’t do them all. How about we talk about what you want and what Arkansas needs? Start by asking yourself which do we need more—a $192 million tax cut for upper-income families, or money for UAMS, prisons, pre-K, public schools to try to bring our students up to the national average, something done for our juvenile system, a better plan for the thousands who lost their Medicaid coverage? They are not going to die off or move to another state. Where are they going to go? Guess! The list goes on and on and on.
What do you want for Arkansas? Think about it and go vote for what is right for our country and for Arkansas. BONNIE COOK Fayetteville
