ELKINS — Rema Lea Moore, age 88, of Elkins passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, in Elkins. She was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Hazel Valley the daughter of Jess and Eva Osburn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill Moore; a son Kenneth Lee Moore and two grandsons David Warren and Kenneth Moore Jr. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Falcon of Elkins and Shirley Zavala and her husband Jerry of Mineola, Texas; a son, Donnie and his wife Bonnie of Adair, Okla.; two sisters, Willadean Drummond of Elkins, Peggy Drummond of Elkins; three brothers, Carl Osburn of Kansas, Sonny Osburn of Durham, Ark., and Demmie Osburn of Brannon Mountain; 16 grandchild­ren; 30 great-grandchild­ren and six great-great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be held 1 p.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Brannon Mountain Community Church. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brannon Mountain Church, interment will follow at the Brannon Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Donald “Sonny” Ray Bates Sr., 77, of Fayettevil­le, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at his home. He was born Feb. 13, 1941, in Carrollton, Mo., to Joseph (Benny) and Esther Weigant Bates.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold D. Bates; sisters, Avonlee (Bonnie) Ford and Charlotte Roach; and a grandson, Christophe­r Ray Bates.

Sonny was a brick mason for 40 years and was a member of Sulphur City Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Shackelfor­d Bates of the home; a son, Donald Bates Jr. and wife Anita of Springdale; a daughter, Raeshelle Hawkins and husband Bobby of Elkins; brothers, David Bates of Herrington, Kan., and Joseph G. Bates of Carrollton, Mo.; sisters, Patricia Groce and Benny Bee Blum, both of Prairie Grove; eight grandchild­ren; and eight great-grandchild­ren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Beard’s Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Beard’s Chapel with Pastor Dallas Auslam officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Baptist Ford Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — ShiuCheng Chang, age 82, of Fayettevil­le, passed away with her family at her side at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018. She was born Jan. 11, 1936, in Changhua, Taiwan.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Yen Foo Chang.

ShiuCheng lost both of her parents at a young age and was raised by her older brother, Ming Chuang Liu. She went on to marry and have four children of her own. She was a wonderful and devoted wife and mother. They moved to Bolivia where they establishe­d and raised their children.

She is survived by her four children, Shyi Yuan Chang and wife Li-Hwa Chiu, HisHsi Chang and wife Yi Lan Shiau, Jennifer Lee and husband Douglas Lee, and Yuta Chang and wife Rachel Chen; 13 grandchild­ren, Chih-Ting Liu, Nathalie DiMaggio, Diego Chang, Angela Chang, Janwe Chang, Ninca Li, Evy Smith, Derek Lee, Kenton Lee, Chantille Lee, Victor Chang, Veronica Barger, and Vincent Chang; and 10 great-grandchild­ren, Sean Liu, Lulu Liu, Diego E. Chang, Lincoln Li, Liam Li, Isaiah Lee, Mia Chang, Alexander Barger, Henry Barger, and Phoebe Barger.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home at 4520 N. Crossover Road, Fayettevil­le, Ark., 72703, with cremation to follow.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Billie Dean Foster, age 89, of Fayettevil­le passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, in Fayettevil­le.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Nancy Catherine Shreve Foster; two sons, Frank Blew Jr. and Mike Blew; a brother, Ellis Foster and a sister Marjorie Burnett.

He retired after 32 years from the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Austria during post-WWII peacekeepi­ng mission and in Alaska during the Korean Conflict as a medic. He was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Blew Israel and husband Ben of Fayettevil­le; his daughters-in-law, Mava Gilley Blew of Fayettevil­le and Rita Ragland Blew of Junction, Texas; seven grandchild­ren and 11 great-grandchild­ren.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at Moore’s Chapel. A private internment will be held at Farmington Cemetery at a later date.

LOWELL — Eula Doris Kelley, 90, died Monday, Nov. 5, She was born Sept. 22, 1928. She is survived by a daughter, Dian Strauss and husband Richard of Lowell; seven grandchild­ren, 14 great-grandchild­ren, three great-great-grandchild­ren, and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. www.siscofuner­al.com.

SPRINGDALE — Lois Marjorie Phillips Edwards, 78, of Springdale died Nov. 6, 2018. She was born March 20, 1940, in Quitman, Ark., the daughter of James Edison and Charlcie Harris Phillips.

She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Springdale for over 48 years. She loved her Lord and Savior, her family and her many friends. Lois used her gifts of hospitalit­y and compassion to make her house a home where all were welcome. She loved to talk to anyone and cook for everyone. You will never meet a more generous person with her time, money or laughter. Her crown is full from her many acts of kindness in which no acknowledg­ement or payment was wanted or needed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Edwards, to whom she married Dec. 28, 1962.

She will be greatly missed by her three children and their spouses, Todd Edwards and wife Carie, Tony Edwards and wife Cathy, Julie Herrera and husband Johnny; five grandchild­ren, Hayden, Isaac and Sophia Herrera, Kennedy and Ty Edwards; one sister, Arline Shrader and husband Larry of Grundy, Va.; and one brother, Gary Phillips and wife Susan of Conway, Ark. She was Mema to many, including her niece Sonja Griffith and husband Bill of Madison, Ala., and their children Shrader and Will; also an aunt, Berniece Tarkington.

SPRINGDALE — David Lawrence “Larry” Johnson, age 84, passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born on Aug. 10, 1934, in Liberty, Texas, to Leo Marion and Myra Alice (Jewell) Johnson. He is preceded in death by one sister; three brothers; and his two children, Carrie and Terry Johnson.

Larry served his country for six years while in the U.S. Army. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending his time volunteeri­ng and devoted many hours to Meals on Wheels and the food bank. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springdale and devoted much of his time volunteeri­ng with the Bread of Life program, the clothes pantry, and teaching Sunday school.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolene (Pine) Johnson of the home; two daughters, Tammy Melton and husband Tim, and Denice Chudej and husband Paul; one brother, Stewart Johnson; four grandchild­ren, Amanda, Joshua, Lindsy, and Acacia; and three great-grandchild­ren, Brittany, Desiree and Sara.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayettevil­le. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 206 W. Johnson Ave., Springdale, Ark., 72764. Interment to follow at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.

SPRINGDALE — Glenn Benjamin Walker, 96, of Springdale, Ark., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, in Springdale. He was born March 5, 1922, in Ozark, Ark., to Elmer and Ruth West Walker.

He was a farmer and a WWII Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Alston Walker, and two sons, Gary Wayne and Michael Lane Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Martin Walker of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; three sons, Glenn David Walker and wife Grace of Washington, Christophe­r Edwin Walker and wife Julie of Oklahoma; and Donnie Lynn Walker and wife Marla of Fayettevil­le; two step-daughters, Stacy Leigh Bowen of Oklahoma and Sherri Lynn Wyatt and husband Lee of Alabama; nine grandchild­ren; nine great-grandchild­ren; and two great-great-grandchild­ren.

Graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Highland Cemetery in Ozark with Jason North officiatin­g under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Viewing and open visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday prior to graveside service at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 W. Commercial St., Ozark.
