Group notes yield from trash cleanups

Keep Arkansas Beau­ti­ful vol­un­teers re­moved nearly 7 mil­lion pounds of trash from parks, road­sides and wa­ter­ways in 2018, the group an­nounced in a news re­lease Fri­day.

The or­ga­ni­za­tion and lo­cal chap­ters held spring and fall cleanups in 71 of the state’s 75 coun­ties. A to­tal of 330 lo­cal cleanups brought in more than 13,000 vol­un­teers, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.

The vol­un­teers tra­versed 1,696 miles of road­side and 1,077 miles of wa­ter­ways and shore­lines.

Keep Arkansas Beau­ti­ful vol­un­teers also planted nearly 2,100 trees, shrubs and flow­ers and col­lected more than 400,000 pounds of elec­tron­ics for re­cy­cling, the re­lease said.
