THE SKINNY: Remember when singer Jessica Simpson didn’t know if Chicken of the Sea was chicken or tuna?
This new Starkist line would totally blow her mind. Starkist, best known for tuna, has introduced Chicken Creations. The ready-to-eat seasoned pouches of “premium white chicken” come in four flavors, as described on Starkist’s site:
■ Chicken Salad (“includes savory dill relish, crisp celery, red peppers”) ■ Buffalo Style (“in a spicy, hot buffalo-style sauce” with a “fiery, vinegary kick”)
■ Ginger Soy (“with a delicious, tangy Asian-style ginger soy sauce”)
■ Zesty Lemon Pepper (“it’s so full of zest, we put it in the name”).
Of course nothing from a pouch is going to taste as fantastic as something prepared fresh. But for low-calorie, high-protein convenience offerings to keep stashed in a pantry or desk, we found them quite decent.
