VA salutes area veterans

The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks will host its annual National Salute to Veteran Patients from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 14 at VHSO, 1100 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville. There will be open house activities where community leaders and the public can pass out Valentine’s Day cards to veteran patients in the

facility. Interested parties wanting to hand out cards can report to the lobby of Building 21.

The National Salute to Veteran Patients provides those in Northwest Arkansas an opportunity to let veterans know that they are not forgotten. In the past, local celebrities, elected officials, school children and other groups have visited during this event, and they are invited again this year as well. Valentine’s Day cards and letters have been collected from local schools and will be distributed to veterans during this time. Visitors are also encouraged to learn more about the volunteer program at VHSO and the important roles volunteers play throughout the year.
