Dallas teammates have Hogs high on their list THE RECRUITING GUY
The University of Arkansas is in the running for two highly recruited junior teammates.
Dallas Bishop Dunne running back Jaden Hullaby has the Hogs as one of his top schools, while teammate linebacker Brennon Scott announced Sunday that Arkansas was one of his top 11 schools. Both helped the Falcons to a 11-3 record and the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Division 1 state football championship.
“It’s simple, [I] like what they are doing and feel like they’re building something special,” said Hullaby of Arkansas.
Hullaby, 6-2, 210 pounds, has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Florida, Baylor, Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa State, TCU, Utah and numerous others. He plans to announce his other top schools in the near future.
He believes Coach Chad Morris and the staff are headed in the right direction.
“I just feel like the culture will change with the new staff they have,” Hullaby said.
He rushed 229 times for 1,181 yards, 11 touchdowns and had 39 receptions for 396 yards and 5 touchdowns last season. He and associate head coach and running backs coach Jeff Traylor have talked on a regular basis since the Hogs offered him a scholarship on Sept. 3.
“We [have] had a steady relationship since September when they offered me,” Hullaby said.
The Razorbacks extended an offer to his brother Landon Hullaby, a freshman running back and defensive back for the Falcons on Dec. 3. Both visited for the Hogs’ game against Alabama on Oct. 6 and have plans to visit Fayetteville on March 9.
Traylor talks up the SEC and the statewide support of the Hogs.
“Best football conference in the country with a great fan base,” Hullaby said.
His mother’s side of the family lives in Little Rock. Hullaby said one cousin in particular is the most vocal about the Razorbacks.
“Just the normal stuff like, ‘I would love to see you at Arkansas,’” Hullaby said.
Scott, 6-2, 225 pounds, has Auburn, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, LSU, Nebraska, SMU, Texas A&M, Colorado and Kansas as his other top schools. He’s an admirer of defensive coordinator John Chavis’ style of play.
“Arkansas made the cut due to the type of aggressive defense I like,” Scott said. “I wanna be able to rush off the edge which is good for me.”
His relationship with Morris is another key reason why the Hogs made the cut for Scott.
“You know during that time we’ve been communicating, my family and I and trying to get me up there so they can show me how they treat their players and stuff.”
Scott recorded 80 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and a recovered fumble as a junior. He sees the Arkansas defense giving him the opportunity to get to the quarterback.
“That’s what I wanna do, I wanna be able to go rush, rush, rush,” Scott said.
He plans to visit Arkansas and others but hasn’t confirmed any dates.
“I got a lot of stuff planned out so I’m trying to set dates, but I don’t know yet,” Scott said.
