NBC official joins Walmart’s board
Walmart Inc. has elected NBC executive Cesar Conde to its board of directors.
He will serve on the audit committee and the technology and e-commerce committee, according to documents filed last week with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
As part of his nonmanagement director compensation, Conde received 550 shares of Walmart common stock, the documents state. He also will receive a prorated portion of a $90,000 annual retainer.
Conde is the chairman of NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. He also serves on PepsiCo’s board. He is a trustee of the Aspen Institute and the Paley Center for Media, a member of the nonprofit Council on Foreign Relations, and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders.
Before joining NBCUniversal in 2013, Conde was president of the Spanishlanguage television network Univision.
Walmart Board Chairman Greg Penner said in a news release Monday that Conde brings to the board “strong skills as a global executive and expertise in brand management, finance, digital and media.”
