SCIENCE AND ARTS 65, JBU 59

-

Vivian Holcomb scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and the Drovers won their sixth straight game 65-59 over the Golden Eagles on Saturday at Bill George Arena.

Science and Arts also picked up a bit of payback after the Golden Eagles throttled the Drovers 6948 at Drover Fieldhouse in Chickasha, Okla., on Jan. 10.

The Drovers (18-9, 13-6) led the majority of Saturday’s game until 6 minutes, 54 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter when JBU took a 53-52 lead on Marta Matamala’s transiton basket.

USAO took the lead for good when Reyna Ammons intercepted a Jordan Martin pass and scored on the other end for a 61-59 Drovers lead.

John Brown (15-12, 11-8) was unable to produce any more points the rest of the way as Karina Chandra was off target on a pair of 3-pointers and had a jump shot spin out.

USAO, meanwhile, watched as Amanda Gibson and Holcomb combined to go 4-of-4 at the freethrow line to close out the victory.

The loss was JBU’s seventh in its last 10 games. Chandra finished with 16 points to lead JBU, while Cameron had 15.
