HAZEL VALLEY — Glen Shackelford, age 87, of Hazel Valley, Ark., passed away Sunday March 3, 2019. He was born April 12, 1931 in Hazel Valley, Ark., to Homer and Otha Garrison Shackelford. Glen is a member of the Hazel Valley Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bill Shackelford and his son in law Frank Richert.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Martha Shackelford; two daughters, Glenda Richert of Elkins;
Kathy Baker and her husband Billy of Elkins; one son, Wayne Shackelford and his wife Cindy of Hazel Valley; four grandchildren, Duane Richert, John Richert, Kerry Shackelford and Jessica Carter; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday March 5, 2019 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hazel Valley Community Church with burial to follow in Hazel Valley Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.

NEW BLAINE — James “Jim” Owen, 76 of New Blaine, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, March 2,
2019 in Russellville, Arkansas. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Prairie View Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
SPRINGDALE — Wilda Anneta Cooper, 81, of Springdale passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at her home. She was born November 15, 1937 in Madison County to Leroy Shepherd and Irma Barton-Shepherd.
She was a strong Christian woman that believed, “Can’t was not a word.” She had many talents such as quilting, gardening and woodworking just to name a few.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 30 years, Alvia Cooper; brother, Kenneth Shepherd and sister,
Wanda Laird.
Survivors include her three sons, Tim Sloan and wife Dian and Randy Sloan and wife Patricia both of Springdale and Allen Sloan of Huntsville; brother, Bob Shepherd and wife Juanita of Batesville; grandchildren, Casey, Katie, Chris, Christy and Walter; great-grandchildren, Elly, Paxton, Evan, Tyler, Aubrey and Harley and several other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. at the Hope Freewill Church, 297 Madison 7510, Fayetteville, Ark., 72703 on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow at Buckeye Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville.
