PREP BASEBALL BENTONVILL­E HIGH 6, APOPKA, FLA. 5

Bentonvill­e rallied with five runs in the fifth inning and picked up a victory over Apopka during Tuesday’s game in the Tate Aggie Invitation­al at Navarre, Fla.

The Tigers (6-1) entered the fifth with a 4-1 deficit, but Kaden Wilhoit and Payton Summers each had a two-run single to put Bentonvill­e in front, then Levi Bennett added an RBI single to make it a 6-4 game. That proved to be crucial as Apopka scored a run in the sixth.

Bennett, Cade Appleman and Payton Gorman each had two hits. Devin Hearn pitched five-plus innings and picked up the win, while Payton Allen pitched two hitless for the save.

Bentonvill­e returns to action at 6 p.m. today against Broken Arrow, Okla., in a game to be played at Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College.

BRADENTON (FLA.) IMG ACADEMY 7, BENTONVILL­E WEST 2

Three IMG Academy pitchers held West to just two hits as the Wolverines dropped their second game in as many days during the Coach Bob Invitation­al in Glendale, Ariz.

West (5-4) scored both of its runs without a hit. Courtesy runner Jonah Keener scored on a wild pitch in the fourth, while Hunter Mayes walked and scored on Joey Aden’s sacrifice fly in the sixth.

IMG Academy jumped out to a 4-0 lead then added a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh against starting pitcher Carter Bourg, who went 62 /3 innings before Kendall Thornton relieved.

West returns to action at 2:30 p.m. Central today against Quartz Hill, Calif.

HARTSELLE, ALA. 12, ROGERS HIGH 3

Hartselle, Ala. broke open a tight game with a seven-run fifth inning en route to the win over Rogers High in the Best of the West tournament in Memphis.

Rogers (4-3) scored two runs in the top of the fourth to pull to within 4-3 as Tanner Strickland drew a bases-loaded walk and the second run scored on Brandson Husted’s fielder’s choice groundout. But Hartselle broke the game open with the big fifth inning, which was aided by two Mounties’ errors.

Matthew Watson went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Mounties’ offense. Jackson Wells took the loss, allowing three runs (all earned) on just one hit over 21/3 innings. He walked two, struck out one and hit a batter.

FAYETTEVIL­LE 5, SANDRA DAY O’CONNOR 4

Fayettevil­le scored two runs in the fourth inning to break a tie and defeat Sandra Day O’Connor on Tuesday in the Coach Bob Invitation­al in Glendale, Ariz.

Harrison Wells and Jeff Sinacore each had two hits for Fayettevil­le, which outhit O’Connor 7-2.

CHARLESTON 12, HAMPTON 3

The Tigers got their bats going late, but it was more than enough to claim a win in the Jarren Sorters Memorial Tournament in Prairie Grove.

Braydon Ross smacked a triple and drove in 4 runs for Charleston. Brett Ward also drove in a pair of runs.

Dalton Curtis went the distance to get the win, allowing just 4 hits over 5 innings.

HUNTSVILLE 10, CARROLLWOO­D DAY 2

The Eagles seized the lead with a five-run second inning.

Sean McCone powered the Huntsville offense, going 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Kent Mayes was 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBIs, and Brooks Wiggins was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Nick Harrett also had 2 RBIs. Tyler Buchanan earned the win, pitching 62/3 innings and allowing 7 hits with 10 strikeouts.

PRAIRIE GROVE 18, HAMPTON 7

The Tigers had their bats rolling, belting 11 hits in the Jarren Sorters Memorial Tournament.

Jadin Higgins was 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs for Prairie Grove. Drew Cates was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

ST. LOUIS LUTHERAN SOUTH 6, HUNTSVILLE 4

The Eagles rallied late but came up just short on Tuesday.

Huntsville (8-2) trailed 6-1 heading into the seventh before putting up three runs.

Kent Mayes, Slayter Watkins and Tyler Buchanan each had 2 hits for Huntsville.

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 7, DECATUR, ALA. 1

Landon McAlister pitched a complete-game 4-hitter and struck out 7 as the Wildcats rolled to a win in tournament play in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Hunter Wood ignited the Har-Ber offense at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Mason Wood was 2-for-4 in the win.

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 5, CLAREMORE 2

The Wildcats put together enough offense to compliment a solid pitching effort to win their second game of the day.

Charlie Acuff and Jameson Clardy combined to limit Claremore to 4 hits in the win. Acuff struck out 8 over 6 innings and Clardy pitched a perfect seventh inning for Har-Ber (9-3).

Clay Burtrum was 4-for-4 to lead the HarBer offense. Kirby Jenkins was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

GERMANTOWN, TENN. 3, SPRINGDALE HIGH 2

Pitching was sensationa­l on both sides as the Bulldogs took a narrow loss Monday in the Lewis Harris Invitation­al in Memphis.

For Springdale, Austin Wages and Nick West combined to allow just 6 hits. Germantown’s starter allowed just 3 hits.

Brock Pounders, Will Mueller and Alex Bowers had the only hits for Springdale, all singles.

VAN BUREN 10, WYNNE 0

Three Pointers combined on a one-hitter in a shutout win Tuesday.

Connor Johnson, Landry Wilkerson and Trevor Johnson took care of the Wynne offense, and Van Buren had three extra-base hits in the win.

Jackson Hurst belted a grand slam to pace the Pointers’ attack. Wilkerson was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs for Van Buren.

SHILOH CHRISTIAN 7, HARDING ACADEMY 6

The Saints held on late to claim a one-run win in the Lewis Harris Invitation­al in Memphis on Tuesday.

Shiloh Christian out-hit Harding 9-3, but the Saints committed four errors and walked six batters.

Marcus Brown set the table for the Saints at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs. Ben Baker and Sawyer Dudleston also had multiple hits and Dudleston drove in 3 runs.

PREP SOFTBALL EAST HAMILTON 6, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 4

Northside grabbed the early lead but could not hold on at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida on Tuesday.

The Lady Bears took a 3-0 lead in the first inning but managed just one run the rest of the way.

Cailin Massey was 1-for-3 with a double for Northside.
