POWER RANKINGS
Breaking down the ACC
1. Clemson (2-0, 1-0):
The Tigers took care of business against Texas A&M, and now the trip to Syracuse doesn’t look so tricky.
2. Virginia (2-0, 1-0):
The Cavaliers are back in the national rankings, so that’s something that’s nice recognition for the program.
3. Boston College (2-0, 1-0):
The Eagles play their third straight home game, though Big 12 member Kansas doesn’t look imposing.
4. North Carolina (2-0, 1-0):
The Tar Heels make a big jump, with that thriller against Miami turning serious attention their way.
5. Miami (0-2, 0-1):
The Hurricanes should be kicking themselves after a second straight close loss.
6. Syracuse (1-1):
That game against Clemson doesn’t look so big any more, but for the Orange it’s a chance for redemption.
7. Pittsburgh (1-1, 0-1):
The Panthers will found out much more about themselves this week at Penn State than last week against Ohio.
8. Georgia Tech (1-1, 0-1):
The Yellow Jackets have been challenged in various ways. They still have low passing numbers.
9. Wake Forest (2-0):
The Demon Deacons stay out of conference to take on a conference foe. That’s right. Anyway, the Tar Heels are coming to town.
10. North Carolina State (2-0):
The Wolfpack goes on the road to take on West Virginia. N.C. State hasn’t allowed a touchdown in its last three regular-season games.
11. Virginia Tech (1-1, 0-1):
The Hokies aren’t making it easy on themselves or their fans, but they avenged the 2018 loss to Old Dominion.
12. Florida State (1-1):
The Seminoles didn’t exactly convince many people that things are OK after playing into overtime against Louisiana-Monroe.
13. Duke (1-1):
The Blue Devils, just like they were supposed to, won their home opener against N.C. A&T in a first-ever meeting.
14. Louisville (1-1):
The Cardinals look quite capable of moving out of this spot at the bottom of the rankings.
