-

NO. 5 OKLAHOMA 48, UCLA 14

PASADENA, Calif. — Jalen Hurts racked up 439 scrimmage yards, became the first Oklahoma quarterback to pass for 200 yards and rush for 100 in the first half and directed the fifth-ranked Sooners to scores on their first six drives in a 48-14 rout of UCLA on Saturday night.

The graduate transfer from Alabama completed 15 of 20 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns and ran 14 times for 150 yards and a score.

CeeDee Lamb and Charleston Rambo each had two touchdowns to help the Sooners (3-0) win their 21st straight true road game. That is tied with Alabama (1970-75) the second-longest away streak after World War II.

UCLA has lost 12 of 15 games under second-year coach Chip Kelly. Dorian Thompson-Robinson passed for 201 yards and two touchdowns.

NO. 12 TEXAS 48, RICE 13

HOUSTON — Sam Ehlinger threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns, Jake Smith caught six passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns and No. 12 Texas rebounded from its first loss of the season with a rout of Rice.

Ehlinger threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Roschon Johnson to cap the opening drive before throwing touchdown passes of 53 yards and 12 yards to Smith in the first half. Ehlinger finished 23 of 27 passing in less than three quarters.

Keaontay Ingraham rushed for 74 yards and had touchdown runs of 26 yards and 14 yards. Cameron Dicker nailed a career-long 57-yard field goal a minute before halftime to push Texas’ lead to 31-0.

NO. 19 IOWA 18, IOWA STATE 17

AMES, Iowa — Nate Stanley threw for 201 yards and ran for a score, and Iowa made a big fourthdown stop, allowing the Hawkeyes to beat Iowa State for the fifth straight time.

Keith Duncan kicked four field goals for the Hawkeyes (3-0), who also improved to 4-0 against Iowa State coach Matt Campbell in a game delayed nearly three hours because of lightning.

Trailing 18-17 in the closing minutes, Iowa State (1-1) drove to the Iowa 34 before a false start, a slip by quarterback Brock Purdy and an incompletion brought up fourthand-13. The Cyclones went for it and, after offsetting penalties led to a do-over, Purdy overthrew Deshaunte Jones near the end zone.

OKLAHOMA STATE 40, TULSA 21

TULSA, Okla. — Chuba Hubbard rushed for a career-high 256 yards and three touchdowns, and Oklahoma State defeated Tulsa 40-21 on Saturday afternoon.

Hubbard ripped off touchdown runs of 75 and 30 yards in the first four minutes of the game. His first score came on the first play from scrimmage, ten seconds into the game.

The Cowboys (3-0) opened up a 17-0 lead before Tulsa recovered. The Golden Hurricane took a 21-20 lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by Shamari Brooks late in the first half.

WEST VIRGINIA 44, NORTH CAROLINA STATE 27

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Austin Kendall threw three touchdown passes to lead West Virginia to a victory over North Carolina State.

Kennedy McKoy helped West Virginia’s run game break out of a slump with a pair of scores, and the Mountaineers (2-1) had by far their highest offensive production of the season one week after looking lethargic in a 38-7 loss at Missouri.

Kendall had first-half TD tosses of 20 and 13 yards. His 25-yard run early in the fourth quarter set up his 9-yard scoring toss to freshman Ali Jennings for a 38-27 lead.

Kendall went 27 of 40 for 272 yards with an interception.

TCU 34, PURDUE 13

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Darius Anderson paced a powerful rushing attack with 179 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries to help TCU beat Purdue.

Sewo Olonilua chipped in with 106 yards rushing and a score for the Horned Frogs.

The Horned Frogs piled up 160 rushing yards on 28 attempts in the opening half compared to minus-1 on 12 attempts for the Boilermakers. Purdue finished with 23 rushing yards on 25 carries.

After the teams traded field goals, Anderson scored on a 32-yard run to put TCU ahead 10-3 with 1:14 left in the first quarter and the Boilermakers trailed the rest of the way.

Redshirt freshman Jack Plummer completed 13 of 29 passes for 181 yards with two interceptions for Purdue (1-2). Plummer started in place of Elijah Sindelar, who was sidelined with concussion. Sindelar led the FBS with 932 yards passing after two games.
