Museum hosts show
The sights, sounds and stories of World War II aviation will come to Fayetteville from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 25-29 at the Arkansas Air and Military Museum, 4290 S. School Ave. in Fayetteville.
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress, FIFI and the Consolidated B-24 Liberator, DIAMOND LIL, will land at Drake Field, accompanied by a P-51 Mustang, a T-6 Texan, a PT-13 Stearman and a T-34 Mentor. Additionally, the CAF Red Tail Squadron P-51 and “RISE ABOVE” traveling exhibit will be shown.
The event is presented by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), which brings its AirPower History Tour to airports across North America each year. Visitors will be able to view all aircraft up close, purchase rides in the aircraft, and tour the B-29 and B-24 cockpits when the aircraft are not flying.
The event will be open to the public each day. Supporting aircraft will be offering rides all five days. The B-29
flies on Saturday and Sunday at 9 and 10:30 a.m. The B-24 flies on Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 and 11 a.m.
Cockpit tours of the B-29 and B-24 will be available beginning at 9 a.m., except on Saturday and Sunday when they will begin at noon.
Access to the ramp is $20 for adults and $8 for youth age 10 through 17. Children younger than age 9 are admitted free. The costs of rides vary depending on aircraft type.
