EUREKA SPRINGS — John Ward Mitchell, age 73, of Eureka Springs, died Nov. 26, 2019, in Springdale, Ark., at the Circle of Life Hospice as a result of a Parkinson’s fall. John was born in Marianna, Ark., to John Whitman Mitchell of Marianna and Nelda (Byrd) Mitchell of Waco, Texas, on Sept. 28, 1946.
He was in the Arkansas National Guard serving for six years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Tommy Mitchell.
John was a lifelong art and antique dealer having shops in Fayetteville in the early 1970s before moving to Eureka Springs. He was a waiter in often high-end restaurants in Eureka Springs, New Orleans and Hot Springs to fuel his antique and vintage sports car habit. In 1995 he built a four-story building at 130 Spring St. which became his shop, Mitchell’s Folly Art and Antiques.
John is survived by his longtime companion, Gwen Bennett; brother Dan (Cheryl) Mitchell; sister Pat Kost; niece Lauren Pate; nephew John ( Courtney) Mitchell, all of McAlester, Okla.; and niece Mary Beth Robinson of Anacortis, Wash.
John never met a stranger, had no time for anger, blame or regret. He was a dreamer and an optimist. He led a charmed life.

FAYETTEVILLE — Owen Batson, age 75, of Fayetteville, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019. Owen was born Jan. 5, 1944, in Christie, Okla., to Elmer and Aggie Batson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson EJ Allen, three brothers and two sisters.
Owen is survived by his wife, Sharlene Batson; children Mike Batson and Rachael Anderson; stepchildren Melisha Allen, Ronda Tester, Donnie Frazier Sr. and Donnie Frazier Jr.; sister Betty Fryar; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home, 3236 W. Huntsville Ave., Springdale, Ark., 72762.

ROGERS — Jose Saul Hernandez, 58, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019. He is survived by son Jose and daughter Maria; his parents; four grandchildren and eight siblings. Visitation and Rosary will be Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, from 10 a.m. until noon at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers.
ROGERS — Mary Reed, 81, of Rogers, Ark., died Nov. 24, 2019.
She was preceded by husband Lawrence, grandson Cody and granddaughter Cineca.
She’s survived by daughter Vickie; son Dennis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

ROGERS — Gerald “Jerry” Sailer, age 88, of Rogers, passed away Nov. 26, 2019. He will be greatly missed. Jerry is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home and host of loving family and friends. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.
SPRINGDALE — Glen Mack Rogers, age 98, of Springdale, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019. He was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Kingston, Ark., to Jeff and Lilly Rogers.
Mack was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lorena Rogers, son Darrel Rogers and daughter Kathy Rogers.
Mack is survived by his wife of 24 years, Virginia Ames Rogers; grandchildren Diana Rogers, Janet Lightner, Darren Rogers and Timothy Rogers; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mack was the mayor of Lowell for nine years.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at Westfield Chapel Funeral Homem, 3236 W. Huntsville Ave., Springdale, Ark., 72762.
