10 schools get recycling grants

Ten Pulaski County schools will each get $1,000 grants for recycling programs.

The Regional Recycling and Waste Reduction District, a state regional solid waste district that operates only in Pulaski County, awards the grants annually. The district announced the awards Nov. 26.

The Little Rock winners are: Agape Academy for field trips, recycling pickup and tree planting; Forest Park Elementary School for public service announceme­nts, education and recyclable art projects; Don Roberts Elementary School for producing a YouTube show; Episcopal Collegiate School for repurposin­g old school uniforms; eSTEM High School for composting; Pulaski Heights Middle School for education and mentoring; Southwest Christian Academy for a water fountain, water bottle refilling station and posters; and The Anthony School for continuing recycling and sustainabi­lity programs and for special events.

Maumelle Charter High School received money for purchasing recycling containers and producing clothing made of recyclable materials. Sylvan Hills Middle School will buy recycling carts, organize field trips and host recycling rallies.
