What might lead nation to downfall of a dictator?

-

Who would have thought the United States would come under the rule of what amounts to a mafia don, and that the members of President Trump’s party, which I assume are the Republicans, pretend like everything is just dandy. The only explanation for their paralysis is fear; the fear of retribution from Trump and the loss of their congressional seats.

They have decided to play it safe and continue to kiss his boots! Let someone else challenge him. Once again a courageous politician is hard to find. Now that he claims vindication by the impeachment result he has become even more emboldened to break all of the rules, evidenced by his firing of those who stood up against him in the impeachment hearings and told the truth. You know who would approve his actions? His old buddies Vladimir Putin and the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, both of whom are known to have retaliated against some who crossed them, ending up in their painful deaths.

An answer to solving this problem is found in the Bible in the story of David and Goliath, where against all odds, a young boy is able to kill the monster. Everyone else was afraid to take him on, and thought David’s chances of victory were nonexistent.

I realize this story would not impress Trump for a number of reasons. First, no one has ever called Trump a card-carrying Christian and he probably is not familiar with the story, and if he was, he would find some excuse for Goliath being defeated, such as David cheating in some way. I am sure Trump would be more impressed with David in his later years when he had an affair with Bathsheba, who was married to Uriah the Hittite. In any event, Trump is so busy tweeting, listening to Fox news, talking to his consigliere Rudy Giuliani, and playing golf he wouldn’t have much time to read the Bible.

Another reason for Trump to stay away from the Bible’s teachings is the thought that at the end of his life the devil would have a place for him that is unusually hot and not conducive to playing golf.

The question is whether there is someone in our country who would be willing to play the role of David? It would have to be a prominent person with a lot of name recognition. Why not Sen. Lindsey Graham, a politician who had a good reputation until he became one of Trump’s lap dogs? Now would be a perfect time for him to have a conversion and challenge Trump. His action would provide some cover for other senators who would admire his courage and it might surprise you how many would join in the fight. If this were to occur, the history books would consider Sen. Graham the most important politician in the life of the United States.
