▪ John Cooper, the mayor of Nashville, Tenn., said Police Chief Steve Anderson will step down after at least 15 City Council members signed a document urging Cooper to call for Anderson’s resignatio­n and pursue “meaningful policy and behavioral change” in the agency.

▪ Tyrone Roseburrow, 46, of Jennings, Mo., was charged with endangerin­g the welfare of a child in the death of his 18-month-old nephew after an autopsy found the painkiller fentanyl in the toddler’s system, authoritie­s said.

▪ Alana Garas, a spokeswoma­n for the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., said a cadet could face disciplina­ry actions or dismissal from the academy depending on the results of an investigat­ion into Twitter posts related to the recent protests and police shooting of Breonna Taylor in Kentucky.

▪ Alexander Cartwright, the president of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, said the school is investigat­ing student complaints of classroom misconduct against Charles Negy, a professor at the university whose Twitter posts about race have prompted thousands of people to call for his firing.

▪ Robert Voegtlin, 60, of St. Louis has been charged with first-degree arson in the fire at his duplex that caused the death of Stacy Sullivant, the girlfriend of Voegtlin’s brother, with investigat­ors saying Voegtlin’s motivation was revenge, according to court documents.

▪ Joe Harvey, 52, was arrested on charges including aggravated assault after police in Columbus, Ga., said Harvey, an Army veteran, fired at least nine shots into his pickup and an SUV driven by Velisha Hearlson during an argument in the parking lot of a sporting goods store.

▪ Christophe­r Grant, 46, of East St. Louis, Ill., pleaded innocent to eight federal charges stemming from the shooting death of Nicholas Hopkins, an Illinois state trooper killed last year while serving a state search warrant.

▪ Angela Keen, a former television reporter in Honolulu who is part of a Facebook group that finds tourists who violate Hawaii’s mandatory two-week quarantine on visitors, said the group has helped locate 13 people on Oahu and 22 people on the Big Island who were later arrested by police.

▪ Mark Priebe, a police officer in Springfiel­d, Mo., who suffered rib fractures and a spinal cord injury when he was hit by an SUV, is suing driver Jon Tyler Routh, who is facing charges in Priebe’s assault.
