LINCOLN — Verna Lou Rodgers Snodgrass

of Lincoln, Ark., was born in her grandmothe­r’s home in Abernathy, Texas, on Jan. 15, 1929, and she died in her sleep at age 91 in Fayettevil­le, Ark., on Aug. 31, 2020.

She was the daughter of Loyd Ray Rodgers and Opal Mae Daniel Rodgers of Lincoln, Ark., and was married for 55 years to Homer L. Snodgrass, Jr., also of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; and grandson Christophe­r L. Snodgrass.

She is survived by son Larry and wife Patti of Lincoln; grandchild­ren Chad Robert Snodgrass of Fayettevil­le, Julie Kaye Snodgrass of Rogers and Roy Leonard Stewart and wife Lisa of Farmington; and great-grandchild­ren Fiona Stewart and Duncan Stewart of Farmington.

Verna grew up in Lincoln and was a valued member of the Presbyteri­an Church of Lincoln where she served as a member of the choir, as an elder of the church and as church treasurer. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron.

Verna was also active in her community and served on the Apple Festival Committee. Her father’s family was involved in the local apple farming community with Rodgers Orchards in Lincoln for many years.

She and husband Homer lived for a time after WWII in Norwalk, Calif., prior to returning to Lincoln and purchasing Summers Butane, a local LP gas business in 1958, which they operated for 38 years until retiring in 1996.

She was the keeper of family memories and traditions and will be sorely missed.

The family will have a private memorial service to honor her memory at a later date.
