• “For years, he had the senior class do a children’s show for elementary school-age kids; it was the only time as a class that you were performing all together — you’re in it all together, that was a key point. And you’re doing something for someone else. Performing for kids, that’s a completely different acting style. Everyone has an equal part of a children’s show, typically. It was very unifying, and we made hundreds of kids laugh and smile. Every day, that’s the kind of energy he brought to every class.”

• “I think he was really instrumental in the new Performing Arts Center, as far as the design of it. He put in a lot of requests because he knows so much about what he needs and what it takes. He built that program from one classroom to what it is today — four teachers and a huge performing arts center. He built the foundation, kids wanted to be in drama, and if he hadn’t done that, they wouldn’t have the program they have right now.”

— Julie Gabel

• “He loves it when a light comes on in a student. That’s what he was doing it for. We took some of our classes to see plays, and I would watch Warren watching the kids enjoying live theater, and it was just like, ‘This is who he is.’ It’s in his blood.”

— Mike Thomas

• “Warren and I have the same philosophy — we try to teach our kids on the collegiate level, as if every one of them are going to pursue theater, because you never know. We like to use that strong Western canon, those strong plays that have complex characters, a really strong story. We want to make sure the kids are having fun playing, but also learning the classics.”
