FAYETTEVILLE — Randle Leon Oxford, 75,

born Aug. 14, 1945, in Winona, Ark., passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family and friends after a brief illness. Randle was the son of Vivian Oxford Hall and Alex Oxford both of whom preceded him in death.

Randle was married to the love of his life, Mary, for 56 years. They met as teenagers at church in Little Rock. They made Northwest Arkansas their home in the 1960s.

Randle sold cars for a living and he never forgot a car or a face. He always had a good story to tell and was known for his “dad quotes” that provided his children guidance, wisdom, and a healthy dose of fear during their formative years and a great deal of laughter in their adulthood.

After more than 40 years in the car business, Randle settled into retirement spending hours each week volunteering at the Veterans Administration Hospital MRI unit and later at the Hope Cancer Resource Center: Highlands Oncology. At Highlands, he never forgot a patient, he always knew their favorite blankets, how they liked their coffee, and their favorite magazines to keep them company during chemo.

He loved his volunteer time. He missed it terribly during covid.

Randle had other loves — his four grandchildren, Ryan and Lauryn Oxford of Jonesboro and Jack and Ella Flesher of Fayetteville. They made him so proud.

He also loved his Arkansas Razorback Baseball team. He loved springtime because of baseball season, and nothing would keep him away from a home game. He loved golf with Randy and Mary, he wasn’t the best golfer, but he was known for a hole-in-one on his very first round which sealed his love for the game.

He also loved his patio, time with our mom, trips to Mountain View to his favorite picking park to listen to music, and his dogs Sophie and Molly.

Randle embraced sobriety in 2014, he thrived in his AA group, he made great friends in Al Anon and became a sponsor supporting others in their sobriety. Randle was a good man with a quick wit, a funny story, and a good heart to match. He is already missed, and our hearts are broken by his passing.

He was preceded in death by siblings Bobby Oxford, Hulon Oxford, Alberta Cox and Alice Betty Jean Edwards.

He is survived by his love, Mary Oxford of Fayetteville; son Randy Oxford and wife Lesa Oxford of Jonesboro; daughter Angela Oxford of Fayetteville; and so many, many friends.

His family is having a private memorial service for immediate family, and a dropin reception following for friends and family to attend Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. For details please email angoxford@yahoo.com.
