◼ Miles McCollum, a 23-year-old Georgia rapper known as Lil Yachty, was charged with reckless driving and speeding after being accused of driving more than 150 mph in a Ferrari on an Atlanta highway, writing on social media: “Yeah. It happened. … Slow down kids.”

◼ Jonathan Lucas, a San Diego police officer, is facing disciplina­ry action after being accused of posting a photo on social media that appeared to make light of a makeshift memorial for a man Lucas and his partner fatally shot in late June.

◼ Khieng Phearum, a spokesman for Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province, said a 42-year-old expert diver has been arrested, accused of illegally possessing nearly 300 earthenwar­e jars — considered protected antiquitie­s — salvaged from a centuries-old shipwreck in the Gulf of Thailand.

◼ Hayat Choudhary, 58, of Lilburn, Ga., a shuttle service operator convicted of paying a $20,000 bribe to an Atlanta official to win a contract to operate a restaurant at the city’s airport, was sentenced to nearly two years in prison.

◼ Nikola Gruevski, the former prime minister of North Macedonia who fled to Hungary to avoid prison in a corruption case in 2018, was convicted in absentia and sentenced to 18 months in prison for orchestrat­ing violence in 2013 against people protesting government plans to remodel downtown Skopje.

◼ Sarah Stewart , a spokesman for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, said Capt. Jeffery Sewell, 58, of Atoka, who died at a Texas hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for three weeks, is the first Oklahoma state trooper to die of covid-19, the disease caused by the coronaviru­s.

◼ Leroy Upshaw, 49, the former sheriff of Barbour County, Ala., who lost his bid for reelection in early 2019 amid allegation­s that he took more than $85,000 from office accounts to use for personal expenses, was arrested on ethics charges, prosecutor­s said.

◼ Mohamed Sadiq, a farmer in Lehi, Utah, set a state record for a pumpkin grown outside a greenhouse with a gourd weighing 1,825 pounds, officials with the Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers group announced.
