■ Dan Hooper , an environmen­tal activist known as Swampy, said “we have had enough” as England’s Stonehenge monument was closed to visitors by dozens of peaceful protesters staging a trespass against the government’s road-building plans, including a new tunnel near the World Heritage Site.

■ Joe Anderson , 62, mayor of Liverpool, England, was one of five men released on bail after being questioned on allegation­s of bribery and witness intimidati­on linked to building contracts, after which he was suspended by the Labor Party.

■ Calvin L. Pittman , 30, of Ferguson, Mo., is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a woman in a rolling gunbattle between two vehicles on an interstate near St. Louis that police say involved “some sort of road rage incident.”

■ Ashley Louise Ricks , 33, of Moore, Okla., is charged with four counts of second-degree murder after police say she was going the wrong way on Interstate 40 near El Reno and slammed head-on into a vehicle that burst into flames with four members of a family inside.

■ Terri Lee Freeman resigned as president of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis after leading it through the 50th anniversar­y of the death of Martin Luther King Jr. and is heading to the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture.

■ William Bilbrough IV , 19, of Maryland, arrested in an investigat­ion of white supremacis­ts, is set to plead guilty and wants the judge to sentence him immediatel­y in a case stemming from his membership in The Base, a group advocating overthrow of the government.

■ Kenney Boone , 53, former sheriff of Florence County, S.C., was handed 30 days in jail or a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty to a criminal domestic violence charge, after a month earlier avoiding prison time for embezzleme­nt and misconduct in office.

■ John Brody Cantrell , a former student at Samford University in Alabama, is being sued for breach of duty and negligence after school officials say he and a friend participat­ed in a prank that caused $400,000 in damage to a fraternity house via a ruptured pipe.

■ James “Pookie” Lampkin , 45, of Eastman, Ga., accused of owning a dog-fighting site, is charged with conspiracy to violate the Animal Welfare Act and 63 counts of possession and training a dog for fighting, one of seven men indicted after a fight was broken up in 2018.
