FAYETTEVILLE — Donald Beyer Lyall,
born July 16, 1934, in Morgantown, W.Va., passed away Dec. 17, 2020, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark.
He was the loving husband of JoAnn Lyall and they were married 64 years. He was father to Leanne Bowles (Mike) and Dee Dee Chesley (Rick); grandfather to Katie Eaves (John), Bryce Roberts ( Jackie), Andrew Chesley (Rachel), Nathan Chesley, Eileen Jennings (Walter), Elizabeth Sharp (Austin), Michelle Russell (Charlie), and eight great-grandchildren.
As a child, Don’s family moved to Washington state where he became a star athlete in high school and college and met his soon-to-be bride. Don joined the Air Force as a pilot and served his country for over 23 years throughout the United States and in Vietnam.
Don eventually commanded the largest air refueling squadron. Retiring as a lieutenant colonel, Don started a successful second career, taking him to California and Northern Virginia.
Over 25 years ago, Don and JoAnn retired to Fayetteville, Ark. Don helped in building numerous Habitat for Humanity houses, spent time with his friends playing golf at Fayetteville Country Club, cheered on many Razorback teams, and enjoyed time with his family.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. Burial of ashes will take place at a later time at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
