known to friends and family as Willie, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Dec. 17, 2020. Wi l - lie was born March 11, 1943, in Springfiel­d, S. D., to Peter and Tena Louwerse (Romkema). She was the third of four children raised on the family farm.

She graduated from Springfiel­d High School and moved to Omaha, Neb., soon after with cousin Hendrene to live in the big city. She met and married her husband and partner in life, Howard Berens, on Nov. 18, 1962.

They moved their family to Arkansas in 1984 and have called it home since then. Willie was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Rogers and sang with the Saints Alive choir. She sold Avon for over 40 years and mentored new sales representa­tives. Howard and Willie enjoyed traveling together and shared many adventures throughout their marriage, seeing all 50 states together, much of Europe and Central America.

Surviving are son Scott Berens (wife Sandy) of Rogers, Ark.; daughter Tricia Johnson (husband Robert) of Lafayette, Ind.; siblings Pete Louwerse of Waco, Texas, and Kathy Bussey of Springfiel­d, S.D.; six grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by husband Howard Berens in 2017 and sister Henrietta Schrader.

A celebratio­n of Willamena’s life will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Rogers at the Pleasant Grove Campus with Pastor Wes George officiatin­g. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be at later date at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers. Arrangemen­ts by Epting Funeral Home, Bentonvill­e.
